Walmart sweatshops cranking out ornaments |
|
http://www.cnn.com/video/... seems that people have found out, and one person has even worked in one of these, its not human, its not right that Walmart be paying a foreign country that doesn't seem to care about the standards, but more wanting to get the ornaments done.
The Sweatshop in China, is paying people 26 cents an hour, that's right $0.26 cents an hour more than half the minimum wage that is supposed to be paid.
Could this alone be why we are receiving such poor quality items from China? That they don't care? That they are revolting.
Its a video, but its very informative, and I think this is one more reason we need to bring the jobs back home.
Will this effect your shipping at Walmart?

3. blackbriar (6223) | 2 years ago | I didn't see any proof in the video that it was a walmart sweatshop. That could of been for any store or that sweatshop could be making ornaments for various stores like Kmart, Target as well as Walmart. I'll still shop there.

4. winky73 (978) | 2 years ago | This won't just effect my Wal-Mart shopping.I read the lables on just about anything anymore. You know the little part where it says "made in".....if it doesn't say made in USA.....I try not to buy it.By not buying things which are made any place other than right here in the U.S.......is the only way we the consumers can have any effect on where the products are made. The only reason they are having things made somewhere other than here....is profit. The cost to make the item may have been only a few pennies.....but the resale value is a 300% or more mark up....that's money in their pocket and very little of that is even going back to the people they have working fo them right here in the U.S......unless you are one of the big guys in upper management.....than of course you wallet is getting fat in the proccess.

5. vivasuzi (1844) | 2 years ago | Everytime someone tells me they shop at walmart, I cringe a little. Not only are the walmarts I've been to messy, rude employees, and just awful, I know all about the product coming from China and also I had friends who worked there and were involved in the lawsuits about being paid less than men. So overall walmart= crap to me. I never shop there already, and this just backs up my reasons.

OreoCookie3 (18426) | 2 years ago | You betcha they are rude, and they don't care. They have their gestapo out in full force at Christmas time... when it is probably them stealing on the inside. Once I buy something that receipt is mine, they have no right to demand it and check my items... but they do it anyway.

6. OreoCookie3 (18426) | 2 years ago | This is outrageous. No wonder nothing lasts that we buy from Walmart! I think Walmart knows exactly what they are buying and how much money they are saving to pass along to us the consumer. We think we are getting a steal and it is the poor factory workers that get gypped.
I do shop more at Ingles for groceries now, than at Walmart. I still do shop at Walmart, but not as much as before.

7. 4mymak (1434) | 2 years ago | it's all up to us, the buyers.
most of us prefer lower prices, not quality - manufacturers/ marketers can only afford to provide lower priced goods - IF and WHEN they can produce/ get at a low price - which means cheap material, cheap labor, cheap process cost!!
even in a 'developing country' like ours, the labor cost is rising, and 'deemed as' expensive - compared to China!! - WE are also losing our jobs because most factories are thinking of moving to China - because of their cheap and big supply of labor. and now - the country is flooded with goods from China.
i dun think it can be helped... as long as we demand lower priced goods, and as long as people are needed to produce things - the cheaper the labor the better -
