My Christmas Miracle

Wow that's great about that survey thing. I'm earning a little extra myself for articles I'm writing for Exquisite Writing and just got another assignment my self..Lot of work involved but hey it'll be worth it to get that extra money, right? With SSI every extra bit helps right? And nice to do something Off the books..heck SSI doesn't have to know everything, do they? LOL

If they did we'd be homeless.

What kind of writing do you do for them - and is your writing on the web?

Well right now I got assigned some "exciting" articles to do all about various forms of lacerations--LOL...NOT. My prior two articles were about lizards. Not bad. One doesn't get to randomly write articles like you do on any topic at Associated Content. They tell you what to write about. Though I was assigned and given what to write about tonight going to tackle them tomorrow. Just not in the frame of mind to write anything like that tonight..having one of my zombie days..ever have one of them? I did a LOT of things yesterday and am paying the price as I've been tired all day.

I have had those days - specially when baby had colic or was teething!

So how do you do your research?

Is it fun to write articles for them? If I had a word program I think I'd like to write articles. I miss writing. I'm getting one soon. Hey maybe you could do a couple articles on AC on my most recent posts - if you want, maybe sally may want to. I don't get notifications about your articles like I do hers. Can you set me up for that? She's amazing -some days I get like 8 notifications of articles!

As far as research I just do searches all over websites on specific topics..one of the articles I did for EW was all about the Uromastyx Egyptian lizard..so just typed in a search for that, had about four or five tabs opened up for each website and quickly scanned each article on the websites to get the info then had to follow a specific "template" to use to make up my own article.
I don't really have a word program like Microsoft Word either but Text Edit on my Mac computer, but can get by with it
Will send a private email about my AC page.

Are you kidding? There's a lot of power in prayer, positive thinking and maybe the Law of Attraction was at work here too. Know what I did? I took out my photo of my tree from last year, like the one I posted in my discussion about wanting a tree. I kept that photo in front of me, so I could look at it all the time...I realize if those people wanted to know who they were they would tell me...so I can understand if they still wish to remain anonymous, but it's also driving me batty not knowing...LOL Did you ever find out who left that skirt and top?? Yes, it's great to know someone is watching out for us.

Yes, but they didn't tell me. I figured it was my Mamacita and Poppy! I have two great friends (husband and wife) that were the associate pastors of our old church. They sort of adopted me. I worked for a bit in their insurance office. I recognized the hand writing on the card as Mamacita's. I call her Mamacita because she is of Puerto Rican decent. I think of her as a Spiritual mother. Anyway I was familiar enough with her handwriting to know she was the one. She has done the walmart cards many times also... and she bought me my Sass Shoes that were over $80. She took care of me before I was doing as well as I am.

She and her hubby were both Godsends to me. They are still ministering in another church now.

I think it would also drive me batty to not know.

Isn't it funny how people like the ones here, who while they are our friends, we haven't met in person, yet are more willing to help than even our closest friends in our "real" life or of family...sometimes I think family can be the worse to try and get help from, right?

Oh--I saw your other posts under other responders and answered your questions there. LOL
Like children one has to be careful with pets with trees too, but thankfully my kitties are very well behaved. They do like to sleep under the tree, but over the years I've never caught them trying to chew pine needles or worse, the light wires. I never decorate the tree with any kind of tinsel..don't care for it, as my impression it makes the tree look rather chintzy..LOL Your neighbor/landlady's family has three trees? Wow. But that's nothing. I heard this story about a woman who has 42! All artificial of course.
How rude that people will look at your ring finger when you mention your husband, for as you say wearing a wedding ring doesn't guarantee fidelity. People can be odd.

Yes, I figure, he can enjoy the trees over there and next year, when he can understand us even better, we'll get a tree. We have one in storage but we can't get into until next month. And again, maybe I'm a paranoid mommy but the thought of him knocking it over.

Oh I remember that story. It was many years ago, and it was a TV movie called The House Without a Christmas Tree, with Jason Robards as a bitter man who didn't want his daughter to ever have a tree because I think the wife had died on Christmas or something like that. So he never wanted a tree ever in the house again. I always kind of identified with the little girl actress as gasps..she looked so much like me as a kid! She won the tree that they had at school, but then when she found out that another girl didn't have a tree either, she snuck out late at night, dragging the tree and left it at the door of the other girl's home. The father heard of her generous offer, and came home with a tree for the daughter--that story always got me going with the waterworks for some reason even though it had a happy ending

Did you ever see that movie? Yes, Virginia There's A Santa Claus? I have it taped..it had Charles Bronson, the guy from the Waltons..geez, name escapes me, and this darling actress who played the girl. Her favorite story was Yes, Virginia...

I love this story. I love hearing about the stories of compassion and helpfulness - even when its not the Christmas season - in fact, I often wish that giving spirit would last longer.

I actually love the idea of barter and of communities of friends who give time, labor and love and whatever else is needed to each other. Like old barn raisings.

Wow! What a heart-warming story! Brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. I know every body has said that already, but I had to chime in too! And I'm not so easily brought to tears these days. (Although, in the past, I have been known to cry over the Simpsons... the episode where he was failing and had to stay in the house studying while every body in town was out celebrating and having a blast, boy I sobbed and cried over that one, my kids still haven't let me live it down.)

Also, thanks for all these other comments. I hate to say this, but this is somewhat typical for my life. These sorts of things. I don't know why, but people often do things for me. I have had a very fortunate life when it comes to friends. Very blessed.

That is a really touching story! I don't think I'd come to the door if my neighboor was knocking on it and dogs were behind her. To hear of such great stories like that makes me feel horrible about not loving my neighboors. Maybe I'll bake them some cookies for Christmas? Anyhow, that man, Big Mike sounds like an amazing elf and really what being a neighbor should be all about.
