How do you deal with pretenders?

Well I can only tell you from the wealth of knowledge from the Bible, that my mother hammered into me day and night. The Bible says to love your enemies. Now, I will tell you what amazes me, I heard this so much growing up in church, that it comes naturally for me and my sisters too.
I live in an apartment where people hate me for the color of my skin. They have no problem with going out of their way to avoid me and even calling me the "N" word and there is nothing that I or anyone else can do about it. These people are mentally ill. When I first moved in here, I use to say that if anyone every called me that, it would give me license to wear them out.
But, the first time it happened, I knew that I could not go off and act a fool. I had to find a way to see the situation for what it really was. These people were not hating me, they were hating themselves. Once I stop giving that word power, it stopped bothering me and they stopped using it.
But before that, I had to realize that it was okay to love and forgive someone who had tried to hurt me like that. I told the Lord, I did not want to forgive this guy. When the Lord let me know that it wasn't even about me, I let it go. Do you know, a few months later, this guy jumped off a building and busted his head open like a watermelon. I was so glad that I had forgiven him.
Practice loving everyone, no matter what. When you don't forgive, you are standing in judement of that people. You are saying that what they did was so bad that it can not be forgiven. But, God forgives us of all things, so who are we not to forgive all things?

How do you?
I tell them exactly what I feel they did to contradict what they earlier stated.
I try not to do so in a confrontational manner and in private but if that is not possible than I will occasionally drop the matter.
It is not up to me to control how someone else behaves but it is totally up to me how I am and rarely give that contol away. Susan

Pretenders. Hypocrites. Plasctic people. I hate them. I stay away from them. I don't need them in my life. I don't make friends with them. If they are "nice" to me I am civil with them.... There are times that it is so hard to get rid of these people in our lives, they are everywhere. In my life right now, there are several of them and I can't get rid of them for some reason I can't elaborate. It's hard for me because whenever I meet people like these I just get rid of them and avoid them. But I think these people will be part of my life perhaps until I get old or until I die. Sooooo hard. The only thing I can do is...bear with them. Accept the fact that I can't get rid of them. Hope and pray that someday they will change.
