I always try to send gift receipts with my presents. This way they can return it. Do you send gift receipts? I would rather them return it and get what they really wanted rather than to not use what I spent money on. I could send gift cards but it seems some people like to open a gift instead or don't use them and they expire.

Yes, that is a good one to do because I have had something go wrong with them before.

We don't use gift receipts unless it's something we're afraid won't work. When we do buy something it's something we know the person will enjoy or needs, so usually a gift receipt isn't needed. The last time we did get a gift receipt was on my husband and a friend of our's birthday. It was a video game and didn't come out until a month or so after their birthday and so we got the gift receipt and gave it to the friend, who was ecstatic about getting the game.
Gift Cards are nice but impersonal so we try to steer clear of them unless we're getting a gift card for a store we know the person can and will purchase something from.

I don't send the receipt with the gift. I keep them and then if the person wants it returned I usually will go with them. I don't like people to see how much I paid for something. To me, it kind of takes away something from the gift when they know how much I paid for it. I give gift cards to the older ones on my list. I buy the little ones gifts so they have something to open.
