How Do You Adjust? |
|
When your schedule gets out of whack? How good are you at getting back in to your routine? I've been working at my old office all week, helping to cover vacations (I transferred last month to an office closer to my home). The other person I'm working with said she doesn't care what time I come in, as long as it's by 9:30 (she is nursing and this is when she "pumps"...sorry if TMI). So, I have been taking full advantage of this and not getting here until about 9ish. It's been years since I have been able to go in to work so late. Today is Friday and Monday is back to normal. It's not going to be a huge difference, but I know I will still have trouble getting back in to my normal routine. Do you all have a hard time getting back to a normal, usually earlier schedule, when you've been off work or have had a schedule adjustment for any reason? If you are able to bounce right back, how on earth do you do it? Related Resource: nursing home care

1. lightningMD (5537) | 10 months ago | i dont have a problem adjusting. My husbands schedule is different every day,so I am used to getting up and motivated whenever he needs to be up. The only shift I hate is when he works late 10pm than has to be back at work at 7am the next morning.

3. Transdisc (14713) | 10 months ago | Yet another fascinating discussion, D. Back when I stopped working, one of the worse things for me was adjusting to doing nothing. It drove me bonkers. Finally, I did adjust and now I have realized that a great schedule for me is to go with the flow. Every day is something a bit different for me, and I more or less roll with it.

dfn12968 (5580) | 10 months ago | Is it "really" fascinating or is it RME fascinating?? LOL. I wish I was more a go with the flow type. I have never had a lifestyle where I could. I wonder how I would adjust if I did. Yes, it does drive me bonkers when my routine is fussed with. I need to learn how chill out. I do always end up adjusting but not without much stress.

4. suspenseful (12743) | 10 months ago | When I was working, I had a steady schedule but when I changed jobs, I found it hard to go to bed at night especially when I had to get on the bus at six am to get there at 8 or 9 pm. Then if I was laid off for a while, and I stayed up late, then when I got back to work, I had a little while adjusting but it did not take that long to get into a schedule. It usually took me a week, but then on Monday, I had to do the same thing again.

5. ElicBxn (8206) | 10 months ago | The roomie has been off all week, and I still have had to work, but shifting around to spend time with family over the holidays too. I've been getting to my client early because I'm not having to take the roomie to work first. On Monday she's working, but 8-5 instead of 9-6, then she's off again on new years day. When I get try to go back to a normal schedule, I try to get to bed earlier than I had been. Now, I've been getting up at the same time this whole week, but I've actually hit the snooze button a couple of days because I'm not having to leave as early as I would if I had to take the roomie to work. Having said that, the day it woke me from the REM sleep I'd've had to hit the snooze button anyway. I just can't jump out of bed from REM or phase 4 sleep like I can the rest of the time.

6. chrislotz (4576) | 10 months ago | My life has been out of whack for the last year and I can't seen to get back on track ever since. My health has gone bad and I can't work anymore so I have to find things to do at home to keep from getting bored. This is when I found mylot and paid to read sites. I have been working the net for a year now and I am getting bored with it too. I can't make very much money and I have had to change my whole life style. My hubby works but the money I was earning is not there anymore and we have had to change our life style because of it. I hate not having my own money and asking him for money, but that's just the way it is. I have learned to accept this but it is hard every day. I fell useless a lot of times. I like to earn my own way even though my hubby says he understands and it's okay with him. Ao I am having a hard time getting my life back on track.

7. raychill (3491) | 10 months ago | I don't know how I do it. These past two weeks were crazy at work because I had off Monday and Tuesday for Christmas. Then I worked Wednesday and Thursday and I was all screwed up on what I had to do to make up for Monday and Tuesday. Then I took off Friday and Monday and had off Tuesday of this past week. So I was all out of whack again. I pretty much just hung in there but now this week it's gonna be a long week again and bleh. I'm so done with my job.

8. filmbuff (1328) | 8 months ago | Basically I'm a night person. So any typical work shift is out side my normal schedule. But I have gotten used to it. In my current job I rotate from coming in early and leaving at a normal time, to (what I like much better) coming in during the early afternoon and leaving during the early evening. What is tough is when you get off late, and have to come in early the next morning. That can be really hard especially if it's towards the end of six or seven day work week. I don't have any tips for you, I just kind've do it.
