I cannot, for the life of me, understand those who are bashing this book and movie. I have read the book, seen the movie and the only good and bad in it is the usual clash between good vs. evil. I suppose its all in the way you look at it, but this movie is not all the anti- Christian things people have been saying about it. Have they even read/seen it??

They're probably complaining about the end of the trilogy. I'd explain why they could think that but it'd be far too much of a spoiler. I don't think it's evil or anything though. Either that or that Pan's called a daemon which is technically just a fancy way of spelling demon. But seriously if this is an anti-christian book then so is Lord of The Rings and Chronicles of Narnia. They all feature animals that talk, magic, killing, incarnations of 'god'* among a good deal of other things. But what they apparently fail to realize is it's just a story, fiction. *Tolkien's "God" doesn't appear through The Hobbit or LoTR he is however in The Silmarillion, which is basically middle earths creation story.

...angel running amok.. sounds almost like planet earth.. [and I can only hope there's a patient, gentle force which is stronger and is just letting things/freewill run its course..

..I'm intending to read this book, now I can see I really do have to... The complaint I have heard is that in the book, the hero's quest is to "kill God" - and it is a reflection of the God bashing or misunderstanding which is so prevalent today.. So I really do have to read it to see if it is there.. Perhaps it is only a/the false image of God which he/she seeks to destroy and I'd be all for that one!

There is no killing of God in this book or movie. I don't know how all these erronious rumors got started, but I still say they are entertaining, thought provoking, intelligent book/movies. Lyra is not out to kill God. She is out to keep the government from taking away the free agancy of the people - and expecially the children. Read it! See it! You will be pleased.
