I am not sure that you either did not fib when you said it was not a trick question, or, that we don't have two different ideas about what a trick question is.
In my eyes, if it is not a trick question, then there is not a percise answer. ropes do come in different lengths. LOL!

I have even went so far as to look up the defintion of rope. No where in the definition is there a specific length given, nor does it say that different length ropes are derrived from cutting off different lengths of rope from a particular rope. Further more, ropes are man made, so will obviously be whatever length that they are made.
Any time an answer can not be arrived at in a logical manner, simply from the question itself; it is a trick question.
In this question, you simply asked, how long is a rope? You did not specify a any particular kind of rope, the use of the rope or anything else. Therefore, there is no way to arrive at any logical, percise answer, simply from the information given. Hence, if you are looking for a percise answer, it is a trick question.
Unless, the percise answer, is that the lengths of ropes vary, which I have already said. You said that answer was wrong. So this is a trick question. | |

A peace of rope that is cut to a specific lenght is called a "line".
So those 4ft, 5ft, sections you have are not rope, they are lines.
i am unsure of the lenght of a rope but i am lead to belive that there is a specific answer.......i think its around 720 feet.
