Who still has their Christmas tree up?

Our tree is still up for the simple fact that I have been too lazy to take it down. I put the ornaments on the tree using twister ties so that the baby couldn't get them off the tree. It worked to keep them on, but now I don;t want to take the time to take them back off. I will probably take it down this weekend.

...Our tree stays up until Jan. 6th. This is the day the wise men found Jesus and presented their gifts. I'm unable to remember the name of this day, other than the 12th day of Christmas.
...This year I have been thinking of leaving our tree up longer. I have convinced my children I made a deal with Santa to come back once I got a paycheck! Plus, I like the ambiounce of the lights.

My Christmas tree has been up. I'm not taking it down, my dad is going to take it down. I took off all the ornaments yesterday. I'm just waiting for him to take off the star and the lights. Other than that, my sister doesn't want the tree to be taken down but it's real. So it's dying right about now, and it's time we get rid of it. Most likely we'll get rid of it by today.

I do! LOL. I havent had the time to turn around lately let alone take the tree and decorations down. I am going to do it this weekend so long as Im not busy watching kids. Were going to have a fire with ours since it was a real tree. I love the piney smell when it burns. Its a nice time to sit with my boys and have a little fire in the snow. They think thats great!

It wasn't much a holiday this year, but I took my little snow scene thingy down this week. I had that instead of a tree. Not much fun with no kids! But I do remember when my daughter was 2-4 - she loves the tree and when she was 3 it was "don't touch", "don't touch" and it occured to me that her relationship with some fun and pretty things and the whole event centered around "don't touch". So that next year, I got a 3 foot tall artifical tree and all wood/plastic, non-breakable ornaments. I puto n some lights nad then it was HER tree. She got to put the ornaments on anyway she liked! And she liked - every morning, first thing she did when she got up was go take off all the ornaments and put them back on differently! She was careful and dilligent and thoughtful and just loved her tree. That tree, for the next 2 years, didn't come down till just before Valentines Day! By then she just lost interest in it enough that I could talk her out of it! It only lasted another year and then she wanteda big tree. Got one, and she was just perfect with it - careful, thoughtful, protective of all her ornaments! Great memory, plus a great way to teach her the why's of being careful and take care of her things etc. Butnow, the kids are grown, have their own kids, and I dont' have the ambition to put it all up for just me and hubby - especially when I am the one that does ALL the work - and he does ALL the complaining!

No I do not have my christmas tree up any more. I took it down the day after Christmas.

As delladidit, I take it down on Jan 6 after the three wise men bring gifts to Jesus Child and because it's still a vacation day so I'm at home and can strip the poor tree down:) Here no one puts a Christmas tree away before that day;) because kids still have little gifts and sweets on that day, brought by the "Befana" who is an old lady similar to a powerless witch; some kids say she's Santa's wife.

Hello dear ersmommy. Christmas is not our traditional festival, so we do not buy Christmas tree. But I love to see it in some of the shops and hotels, as it could add to some of the festival happiness. Thanks.

We actually do keep ours up forever, but it is not a fire hazard. Because we just use this home in the winter, and it is here is the hot dry desert, we put lights and a few tasteful decorations on a "preserved" ficus tree that graces our living room and just leave them up all of the time, except, of course that sometimes I have to take them down to dust and polish the leaves. When we get back after our summer on the west coast, then Christmas is just around the corner.

Once when I was a teenager, though, I remember our family kept a real evergreen tree up until March. When it started to dry out we had to haul it away. For some reason that tree stayed fresh in its pot of water and nobody wanted to take it away until it lost its scent--it was just one exceptional tree.

I remember when I was really young I used to be devastated when it came time to take the tree down.

I think the older you get though the more you realize that Christmas is about so many deeper things than the tree. Eventually the tree just seems to lose significance when compared to the true meaning of Christmas and all the great memories and times you have with families and friends. Those are the things that live forever.

Like many, I don't have a great track record of keeping trees healthy, so I tend to take mine down fairly early.
