How did you react.... |
|
when someone first time addressed you 'Aunty' or 'Uncle'...specially when...you were quite young and did not deserve to be addressed as 'Aunty' or 'Uncle'. I feel even middle aged persons do not like to be addressed as 'Aunty' or 'Uncle'. Please share your experiences with me. Thanks in advance.

SViswan (4201) | 2 years ago | lol...even before marriage, I had kids my sister's age calling me aunty...but after having someone your own age call you aunty, nothing surprises me! Around 3-4 years before I was married, I had a neighbour who was 2 weeks younger than I was and married...so her kids started calling me aunty..and I was okay with it.

dpk262006 (9004) | 2 years ago | So how it sounds or feels when someone of your age calls you 'Didi' and someone of your age...calls you 'aunty'? I believe, you feel comfortable both ways?

|
SViswan (4201) | 2 years ago | lol...I'm so used to aunty that I might be surprised at 'Didi'...just kidding...as long as they aren't abusing me, sab kuch chalta hai...they can call me whatever makes them comfortable.

2. mummybec (257) | 2 years ago | For me it was special the first time I was called "Aunty" I loved it - I know not everyone does but I did. It was nice to be recognised as someone special in thier lives. My reaction I think was that I picked up my neice and gave her a huge hug. As the first time she called me Aunty was in the sentance "I love you aunty Bec" was very special to me. I now have 4 neices, 2 nephews and I also have 2 kids (a daughter and a son) so alot has happened in that time but I still remember it:)

3. amitksing (1042) | 2 years ago | Its a good question and I would like to answer it! I am 24 yrs old and there have been several instances when kids have addressed me as "Uncle". Well, just for the sake of saying, one can say that being addressed as Uncle/Aunty feels bad, But what I have felt is that whenever any kid calls me Uncle, I feel like blown in a stream of Love.. Its unexpressable! It makes me feel so special and I feel like showering lots and lots of love on the kid! I dont know for others, but its a great experience for me!

6. piatos03 (305) | 2 years ago | The first time someone called me that was when I was 12 or 13. My brother had his first baby girl. I was 9 when she was born. When she started talking, her parents encouraged her to called me auntie. I heard them talking to her about it and didn't think much of it. I mean, how bad can it be? But the first time I actually heard it, I cringed. I am too young to be called that! I had a little talk with her parents and told them to tell her to stop. She did and she calls me by my first name now. We're more like sisters rather than aunt and niece.
I became more comfortable with the term aunt when my brother had his second baby girl. I was already 18 then so it wasn't much of a big deal. It actually felt great that time. Knowing that you were someone's godmother.

8. ssh123 (18249) | 2 years ago | It depends on the age of the person and the person who is called uncle or aunty. Generally more than 10 years old, people used to call uncle. There is nothing wrong in whatever they call, what is important is how you respond to them without disturbing your mind.
