Western U.S. STORMS - Do You Live in CA-NV-OR-WA - Did the Storms Get You? | | Did you get hit by the heavy rains along the west coast or get stranded by the blizzards in the Sierras or Cascades?
This huge wet winter storm system has just buried the western United States mountain regions and is causing floods and mudslides in the lower coastal areas. About a half million people are without electricity around Sacramento the capitol of California.
There is flooding from heavy rains from Washington down the coast through Oregon clear to southern California. Areas in southern CA that were hit by the October wildfires are at great risk of mudslides from the torrential rains.
Where I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains between Nevada and California we received 4 feet of snow in the valleys and more higher up on the mountains. Forecasts call for up to 10 feet (3meters) of snow to fall in the mountains today and tomorrow. Several of the mountain highways are closed and those that have been plowed are re-opened only to 4X4 vehicles with chains.
