NOISY neighbour update for anyone who cares!!

omg. that sucks. Maybe you could find someone that you know that would take the dog? First i would call the people at the tenentcy act or whatever it is there, and make sure whatyou should do with the dog!! you dont want to end up in court over something stupid!

I don't know what the laws are but it seems like whatever belongings he left on your property would be yours to do whatever with. My concern would be what if he isn't caring for the dog properly and someone else calls animal control...you may be held partially responsible because you knew the dog was there and you are the property owner.

The laws in Mass are grossly slanted in favor of the tenant. If/when I call animal control they'll have to get a search warrant & police assistance to enter the property. I can not enter the property unless there is a serious emergency happening- like if there was a fire a landlord can help the fire department get in or if a leak were sprung I could get in to shut down the water, but entering the property without a reason like that could land me in jail for trespassing. If he abandons his belongings I have to store them for up to a year before disposing or selling them off (a judge can order something different).

holy crap! So you have to pay for a year to either have the apartment vacant, or to store his stuff.. And it doesn't cost him a dime? I guess you have to be really carefull who you rent to dont you?! that's freakin nuts. I feel bad for the dog, Itd be a pile of bones before he came back for it!

here in illionis the people that rent apartments out do a background check and credit check and most people that rent wont rent to you if either of those are bad. I had to pay first and last months rent plus a security deposit. last months rent was just in case i didnt wanna pay last months rent becuase he had my security deposit. My landlord has had people not pay thier last months rent because he had their security deposit.

Yea here every apartment you rent just about you need first and last months rent before you can move in. And they do a credit check. I dont think they can do a background check, but they can ask you for refrences. Considering the girl is only 18 and i doubt she's ever had an apartment before, probably had her mom as a reference, and WHO WOULDNT give a good reference for their kid, especially if you want to get them out of YOUR HOUSE lol.

My hubby isn't a one to start trouble. They do talk at work, and he doesn't like them either, but he wouldnt tell him. It's not worth it to get involved in somthing like that, next thing you know we'd all be on jerry springer or something LOL.

yea these people talk to me if i see them outside, but they are by no means my friends. lol. If your neighbours are your friends, then you could try politely asking them to be more quiet at night so you can sleep, Or wear earplugs to bed. lol i would if i could, but i got to listen for the baby.

Not to mention that she doesn't care about anything but money. The guy next door to us smokes, drinks and does drugs in his apartment and she couldn't care less about it.

Unfortunately I can't move any time soon so I have to deal with this crap.

There are no real rules for renting where I am, a landlord just can't demand more than 1st and last. Security deposits/extra charges are against the law here.

Credit check and backround checks are rare for private rentals such as basement apartments, but for apartments and houses they generally credit check you until there's no tomorrow.

gee, i think you should report your landlord for his illegal doings. but if you're afraid to, just look for another apartment co'z i think it's dangerous to live to that one. i can take my neighbors to be noisy as long as they are doing right things and don't do illegal actions like that. But if they are against the law, i think i should report them to the police. Then i would look for another apartment to live.

Thanks joey, I hope so too, and i hope yours gets solved too or you are able to move, All that noise with a baby sucks doesnt' it? I hate idiots!! They just have no respect for others. I am never noisy back. except when they really piss me off at night time i will vacuume under their bedroom at 8 am or earlier if i'm up lol. I dunno how effective that is of a retaliation, but it makes me feel better lol.

You know my wife wouldn't be able to say I was doing it on purpose if she didn't think I was doing to get back at them. (more like being handy) hehe, I'd probably do it earlier because I know how much they like to lay in on a weekend.

especially since they have a baby! i have yet to hear or see this baby though, so i think maybe someone else is looking after it, and she is collecting hte welfare for it, or something along those lines, cause i find it hard to believe that i have NEVER heard the baby that was 1 month old when they moved in and they have been there 3 months.. a 4 month old is PRETTY loud when it wants something. At least in my experience. If i can hear them MOANING i should be able to hear a baby cry!!

I agree with you, that is why i was talking about it here and not to other neighbours lol i dont wanna get involved in that jerry springer white trash type of love triangle situation! If she wants to cheat on her man while he's out at work bringing home the bacon that is their problem, i just thought i'd share with you guys;)

I actually live in canada:) and i live in a house that is converted into three apartments, one on each level. I happen to live in the basement. I do complain about the noise when it is them yelling profanity between the hours of 10pm and 7am!! I dont complain too much about the noise in the day. I am more concerned with the smoking. We dont smokearound our kids, and i quit 3 years ago. Because i dont want my kids around the smoke. The rest of the discussion was merely gossip:) I cant' tell anyone else cause i dont want to be involved, so i thought i'd tell my friends here at mylot, about how nasty my neighbour is, cheating on her boyfriend whilehe's at work working hard to bring home the bacon lol:)

hehe we use that way of spelling here in canada too;) good observation though! A lot of people probably just think i'm a TERRIBLE speller! haha;)
