My Favorite Movie when i was young and still is |
|
I used to watch Sound of Music over and over so much that it annoyed my brothers emmensly. I also enjoyed singing along to the songs in the movie as well. I never liked the Baroness much, She was always Jealous of Maria and she made Maria feel like she had to leave and go back to the Abbey. My Favorite Song in the movie would have to be "Something Good". Its a beautiful song sung by Captain Von Trapp and Maria after they realize how much they love each other. Obviously my Favorite Character is Maria. She is a confident young woman that touched the hearts of the Von Trapp children and made them realize that they do need a Governess or a new Mother. My Favorite Scene is where Maria is arguing with the Captain after the Children are sent inside to dry off and change their clothes after falling out of the water and the Captain turns to leave and Maria says " I AM NOT FINISHED YET" and then the Captain says back "OH YES YOU ARE CAPTAIN, i man froline" I cracked up laughing every time I saw this scene So What was your Least Favorite Charcter and Favorite Charcter and what was your Favorite song and Scene in the movie?

1. patgalca (4939) | 7 months ago | The Sound of Music is one of my favourite movies too. My FIRST favourite. Grease is my second favourite. But to answer your questions is kind of hard. I like Liesel and her scene out in the Gazebo "I am Sixteen Going on Seventeen". But I also like the puppet show - Lonely Goatherd. I have the vinyl record and the video and the CD. I do a great imitation of the Mother Abb... singing "Climb Every Mountain". Drives people crazy. Did you know that the blonde girl (can't remember the character name right now but her real name is Heather Menzies) grew up to marry Robert Urich? I wonder what happened to the rest of the cast.

kitten1954 (1035) | 7 months ago | Thanks for your response, I also love Climb Every Mountain and my dad always said that this was his favourite part of the movie too. Julie Andrews is a very talented artiste, I have seen other works by her but The Sound of Music is always in the back of my mind and I sing the songs too. HUGZ from Kitten1954

2. ElicBxn (7080) | 7 months ago | Its hard not to love Maria. And I loved Julie Andrews in the role! I don't honestly remember who, besides the Nazi's I didn't like tons. My favorite song... I loved "I am 16 going on 17" and "Do, Ri, Mi", but I think "Favorite Things" is my favorite song.

kitten1954 (1035) | 7 months ago | Yes, the Nazi's got up my nose too. Especially the one who arrived just as the family were leaving for Switzerland Herr Heffner I think his name was, he really irked me and I was glad to see him outfoxed. HUGZ from Kitten1954

3. sarahruthbeth22 (6989) | 7 months ago | My least favorite character is Liesl's " boyfriend" Rolfe. He was 17 going on 18 and he was an a**hole.Nicw one day and then a Nazi the next. Not at first but when I saw the movie in later years, I had visions that dear Rolfe being killed by the Allies.Whenever something surprising good happens to me, I sing " Something Good" to this very day. But my favorite song is Edelweiss. I love the scene where the kids urge the Captain to sing and he sings Edelweiss. And I like it when everyone in the auditorium sings it at the concert. When I first saw the film it was just a beautiful song. But now I hear it as a love song for the pre World War Europe. My favorite scene is the first scene. Julie Andrews and the hills. It is breathtakingly beautiful.

kitten1954 (1035) | 7 months ago | I agree with you about Rolfe and I was pi***d off with him when he blew the whistle on the rooftop of the abby, I didn't think he would but I knew he had to. It wouldn't have ended right if he hadn't done that and the story might not have had such a happy ending. Thanks for your response, I too love the opening scene with Maria on the hills. kitten1954 (1035) | 7 months ago | Yes it is timeless, and is good for all ages. Thanks for commenting and I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Another film I would recommend to readers is "The Mission" with Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro which is based on events surrounding the Treaty of Madrid in 1750, in which Spain ceded part of Jesuit Paraguay to Portugal. The music is hauntingly beautiful, the scenery is spectacular and the storyline is superb. If you like historical films then this is one that I would recommend. HUGZ from Kitten1954

| 5. bigcatwsy (27) | 7 months ago | The sound of the music is one of my favorite movies. I love the role named Maria very much. She's so pretty. All the songs of the movie are so sweet and the song "lonely goatherd" is so funny. My favorite scene is that nearly the end a nun tell the mother that she's criminal to pulled the battery out of the car. ha,the movie is so classic.

kitten1954 (1035) | 7 months ago | I remember singing Lonely Goatherd in a choir sometime but can't think where or when. The song and the puppetry are fabulous. Thanks for your response, and I also remember getting a chuckle when the nuns confessed to Reverend Mother what they had done. Such a beautiful movie, have you read the book that the film was based on ..The Von Trapp Family I think it was called. Excellent book and well worth a read. HUGZ from Kitten1954

| bigcatwsy (27) | 7 months ago | The song Lonely Goatherd was sang by Maria and seven children in the Vop Trapp's at-home party. You can see the scene on the time about half of the movie. It's a pity that i haven't read the book which the movie was based on. Thank you for your recommendation and i'll try to find it.

9. jcj_111776 (984) | 7 months ago | The Sound of Music will always be unforgettable. I remember watching this so many times when I was little. I liked so many songs but the number one for me was the song "Edelweiss" I'm not sure if I typed it correctly. This was sung by Captain Von Trapp. My obvious favorite character was Maria. With her innocence but a sense of dignity that is unmatched. The Baroness wasn't that really cruel because she did accept the fact that Captain Von Trapp didn't love her. But then, she was my least favorite character. The scene that I loved most was when Captain Von Trapp and Maria were dancing. And finally, their feelings for each other were finally admitted at last.
