What are yours? |
|
We all have typos that just become habit for us. Mine are leaving the l out of words like could, should and wold. The other word that I seem to mess up more times then not is the word that. The last t ends up attached to the next word. What are your habit or subconscious typos?

1. honeylore23 (606) | 9 months ago | I think i overused the word "well" "in my opinion" and using "be words". It was my sister make me realized me that I overused using those word, when she read some of my responses.

2. wolfie34 (11444) | 9 months ago | I think I am somewhat dyslexic at times, even though I am a touch typist I do get words wrong, so I have to go and correct them, I am quite pedantic at words and I have a keen eye for picking up typos in mine and other's which can be annoying, so I have to hold back, even in some really important letters and emails and even on sites I see glaring typos which shouldn't be there! I see you have a problem with wold LOL should be would, so you're right there! I always have a problem with apostrophe's where they should go when there is an s on the end of the word i.e Stevens' Book or Steven's Book! I just never understood the rule when it came to apostrophe's!

joyceshookery (674) | 9 months ago | My eyes tend to pick up typos also. I guess it's my work background and natural affinity for detail. Since you seem open to assistance with apostrophes, others is not an other's and here's where English is crazy. If you said It's another's post you'd be correct. Others' posts would also be correct. How many Stevens are you referring to? If it's one Steven, it's Steven's book. Strunk & White would say that if the last name of the person is Stevens, you'd say it's Stevens's book. The word apostrophes is just plural, not possessive, so don't use an apostrophe.

3. Transdisc (14792) | 9 months ago | I try not to develop any typo habits, raz, but I do have a few words I mess up on and usually correct before I submit them. One word I always type wrong is teeth. For some reason, I type it, 'teetch' and have to correct it.

razcal2267 (7907) | 9 months ago | On the forums I try to make sure that I correct the typos before I hit send but there are times where I miss my typo because it it another word. On messenger I do not bother to correct most of the time. It just is not worth it.

4. dfn12968 (5580) | 9 months ago | The two I have noticed most recently are "because" and "from". I frequently spell them becuase and form. I don't always catch my mistakes, either, which is rather annoying!

5. Sissygrl (4548) | 9 months ago | When typing i think, it always ends up It hink. lol. And depending on the keyboard i am using i tend to use the backspace key more then any other key, cause i get used to my keyboard at home and then its hard to use another one. lol. It's like sleeping in someone elses bed! its hard to get used to! I also tend not to capitalize my I's when i should.. but that's from talking on msn and irc. I think i mess up the word that as well sometimes. It's hard to think of the typo's when you wanna know them, but you notice while your typing!

I always correct them when I catch them but sometimes I don't take the time to read over what I am submitting. My most common errors: the- teh from- form because- becasue sometimes- sometiems them- tehm would- woudl had- ahd In fact, I just had to correct about 6 typos in the above paragraph.

razcal2267 (7907) | 9 months ago | I totally forgot about the form/from typo. I do that one often. It is bad when you have to check your own name. D, you stop picking on Die. If he wants to think that it is an extra i let him=P

diecaster (391) | 9 months ago | D, upon reading your response, I first hung my head in shame, and felt my self esteem slipping away like the bath water going down the drain. Then my dear friend and thread author was kind enoiugh to defend my right to hold dear my posiition of keeping aliive the age old human right to the "extra" "Ii" syndrome. I woiuld trust that at some point you wouild be able to understand my positiion. Thank you for allowing me to talk aboiut this. Iit helps. diecater

razcal2267 (7907) | 9 months ago | Dang it Die. You just couldn't help yourself with that last one could you? Do it again and I might take D's side instead=P Only because I nearly choked on the tea that I am drinking when I saw that one. Just did not expect it, I guess.

9. carmelanirel (5261) | 9 months ago | Mine seem to be similar to yours including, adding an extra "e" in words like sleep.. I am very thankful for backspace, it makes me wonder how in the world people typed years ago on the manual and they typed pretty fast.
