When Did You Know They Are THE ONE?  |

Was there a defining moment in your relationship that let you know that the person you were/are with was the one for you?
There was a time like that for me. It may sound silly but it was when we were white water rafting and I fell out of the raft. I ended up getting trapped in the current underneath the raft and couldn't surface right away because the raft was on top of me. When I finally came up I came face to face with my sweetie and he looked absolutely terrified. You would have thought I was missing half of my skull he looked so scared.
When they finally hauled my butt back into the raft he kissed me and told me never to scare him like that again. It was that moment that I knew there was no one else in the world for me.
Was there something that happened in your relationship that convinced you beyond the shadow of a doubt that the person you are/were with was the one for you?

For all the dreams we have of the 'perfect one' and all the mental lists of pro's and cons we run through our heads when we are dating, in the end, it all comes down to something clicking that 'this is it!' switch that we have never entertained in our imagination. I swear the heart has a mind of it's own. We think we our brains, we decide with our hearts.

| loungeact (496) | 2 years ago | You are obviously a very strong personality with a very busy synapse system! lol I used to be a lot more outspoken myself. Time and experience have tamed me though. Now I react from the brain and then bear down hard on listening to my heart. Then it's back to the brain to reconcile the two and come up with the best solution. Sometimes the heart wins, and vice versa. It is sadly true that more often than not, the heart loses because of the strength of the brain. I'm still working on that. | |

| 3. GyurlTrini (49) | 2 years ago |  well I also am not in a position of having a significant other at this point in time, so I can't say yes definitely I have had this experience, but I think I do know what you mean.
There's a guy I used to date, who is always there for me no matter what and in my own way I do also love him, although we are not together and have not been together for years. I can look at him now and tell myself that I do not know what I would do without him. He is one of my best male friends because of this.
There aren't many males I can talk to and confide in, the way I can with him. That's what makes him so special to me, and because of that, sometimes I think "If I could find a guy like him ... someone whom I can confide in the same way ... someone who I know will always be there for me ... someone who cares about me and isn't afraid to show it.". Also, he and I are very comfortable around each other, we do not argue or fight over anything. He accepts me for who I am, and I accept him for who he is.
Those are basically my criteria for determining whether or not I can forsee the relationship lasting long (I can't handle always argueing, unless the lessons learnt from the arguements result in a determination to find a way to make things work).

This seems to have mirrored a question that I have asked my discussion forum The first time you realized you were meant to be together.LOL!!! they always say great minds think alike. I think one way of completely knowing they are the one is when you feel completely safe with them even when they drive a like a race car driver or when they are so much part of you, that you can communicate without even talking. The fact that you don't have to ask they just know . I love the feeling of oneness and completion. Have a nice day.

I went to there and propose to her in August. We were married in May. She is my gift from the Lord. A blessing I been praying for.
How do you know if they are the one? When you see life without them would not be life at all and no one else can hold a candle to them.

I think the fact that I found him not only extremely attractive but that we could hold an intelligent conversation. During the times we couldn't be together we would spend 8 hours on the phone talking about anything and everything, without a lull. We were completely different and grew up with entirely opposite childhoods, yet we still had so much in common.
I don't know, I just knew.
