ever heard of a puffer fish? |
| |
| hello all of my good friends here at Mylot! have you-all ever heard of a Puffer Fish? sometimes called a Blow Fish? haha a blow fish? i was playing Casino Island Blackjack on pogo's website last night and i reached rank 36 and the picture for that rank is a puffer fish. Tetraodontidae is a family of primarily marine and estuarine fish. The family includes many familiar species which are variously called puffers, balloonfish, blowfish, bubblefish, globefish, swellfish, toadfish, and toadies. They are morphologically similar to the closely related porcupinefish, which have large conspicuous spines (unlike the small, almost sandpaper-like spines of Tetraodontidae). The scientific name, Tetraodontidae, refers to the four large teeth, fused into an upper and lower plate, which are used for crushing the shells of crustaceans and mollusks, their natural prey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pufferfish so tell me, have you ever heard of or seen a puffer fish before? thanks for sharing! | | here is a picture of what a puffer or a blow fish | | | | |

| | Not only have I heard of the blowfish, that is what my family call it, but we have caught them also. They are so weird and strange to see when they puff up like they do. We take them off the hook and throw them back in the water. | | | | | | |

| | I just noticed I put "we" would take them off the hook, wrong, I wouldn't touch those things to take them off. hahaha Mostly they are salt water fish, they do have some that are fresh water and some that need a little bit of salt in the water. | | | |

| | Yea, I have heard of it before. It's really amazing that it can transform it self into a bubble with horns!:) haha I have a "gladiator fish" at home. This little fellow, likes to live alone, with no other fish since it eats them! The only time he accepts a fish in its aquarium bowl is when it is mating season. But then when the female spreads the eggs to be fertilized, it should be immediately removed because the one will eat the other. Weird nature huh? | | | | | | |

| | Yup...its a very famous poisonous fish.. And of course, its also quite a common Japanese dish, Japanese Sashimi...though it must be cut by specialist chef who knows how to remove the poison promptly... | | | | | | |

| | Petco is kinda generic. You need to go to the aquatic critter on Nolensville Pike for the rarer ones. They have all kinds of fish , tanks & such. I've seen the puffers there but didn't notice any freshwater versions. I'll have to check next time I get down there. | | | |

| | yes this fish is deadly... i saw it featured on tv about how Japanese people eat it and only licensed chefs can actually serve it... there are some cases that customers choke and die because of the poison... talk about exotic (more like toxic) delicacies! ;) XOXOX | | | | | | |

| | Hello RLF, We used to play with toad fish (puffer fish) when we were kids. We would roll them on the sand with our thongs, and watch them puff up. The stupid things we did as kids. | | | | | | |
