We cannot select the gender of our babies. It's one of the miracles of God. We just accept if he is male or she is female!

Do you mean that it is illegal to try to determine the gender or that it is illegal to interfere with the birth if the gender was not the one the parents hoped for? I am not interested in having children, but if I were in the appropriate age group and did wish to have a baby I would not want to know ahead of time which gender my baby was going to be. I have no quarrel with those who do and would never tell someone else not to try to find out, but for me, sometimes what nature does seems like it ought to be a surprise.

On the other hand, I would wholly agree with any law that would prevent parents of aborting a child just on the basis of a preference they had for the opposite gender. It is hard to tell exactly what you mean here. Are those your children in your avatar?

In the Philippines, it is not prohibited but I'd still want to have my baby's gender checked so I'd know what to prepare before his/her birth.

NO, never. I also imagine its to be a crime. i am also from india. I think this law is very much justified in scenary of lots of female foeticide.

I think that for a lady living in a country like the UK and probably Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA having a gender scan in pregnancy is a good thing to do. Then the parents will know that they are having a girl and so buy pink clothes or a boy so buy blue clothes. It cuts down on the surprise on the day of the birth. However in China where they have the one child policy the majority of pregnant ladies want a boy. Boys are also the preferred gender of babies in India. I can see that allowing gender scanning in India might lead to some ladies getting upset when thy find out they are not going to get their choice of gender. I have heard that abortion takes place legally in some countries and illegally in other countries. When I had my first pregnancy the hospital had a policy of not telling the parents the gender. I had a boy and he is now 12 years old. When I has my second pregnancy I had a private gender scan that told me I was expecting a boy. He is now 8 months old.

Some women in the UK try to select their preferred gender by eating a diet to get a girl or a diet to get a boy. They look at ph levels and consider timing is important. Some are lucky and have their desired gender. One I know one lady had a seventh son and is now looking into a more medically arranged way of getting pregnant with a girl. By not getting the girl she so wanted she kept on having more and more children. Overpopulation is an issue. However it wouldn't be right for only boys and no girls whatsoever to be born in China and India for they would not find a wife. If given the choice I would select to get pregnant with a baby girl.
