Would you consider putting a picnic table in your kitchen, just for fun?  

Trouble when you go straight into a discussion from a notification you don't get to see the picture, so I went into your profile and clicked on your discussion so I could see the pic! I see what you mean now, but what is a tiki bar? I am intrigued, I think my dad would love it providing it was loaded with food 24/7 and he could help himself might make it easier for mum too as she wouldn't have to wait on him LOL! All you need then is a big indoor swimming pool for the piste de la resistance then I would DEFINITELY come round and you wouldn't get rid of me! Mind you fur goes funny in water!

Yes, Dru, I think this is a fantastic idea...live like the millionares and billionares. Who indeed would want to leave ever? It would be a non-stop partaaay! I've often dreamed of ideas such as this and how you could make your home a really fun place to be! Of course, no matter where it would be, I would have to have my quiet time, so a study is mandatory for my tastes. Boring huh? LOL

I have two friends who you would probably like based on these things you have described. One of them has a picnic table as his kitchen table. It is made out of cypress and he made it himself. It is extra extra long and can seat at least three families at a time. We eat over there all the time and it is a great way to do things.

My other friend has a swimming pool in his dining room. Well, it used to be his dining room. He made the room a little longer but he ceilings are still low! It's hilarious, but hey, it's also a lot of fun.

It depends on personal taste. But then in my case I cannot have sunch fantasy thinking, because it may not be practicable and likeable by others in the family. Therefore, I like the traditonal dining table, food served for all at one time, so that we can enjoy eating. As it is there is not much space either in teh kitchen or in the living room. Therefore I do not fancy such ideas.
May be I could think of having a dinner on terrace once a while when there are some guests. There is no permanent arrangement on the terrace, and a lot of things have to be done to host a dinner, but I feel it is worthwhile.

great idea of having fun from simple things. W are so busy these days we hardly could see and imagine things right in front of us. Its just little bit of creation, fun and frolic and you would just have your day! I just wish i could have fun out of my kitchen!

Uhhhh...my kitchen is smaller than most picnic tables. But, I do like the pool idea. It would have to be a very, very small pool, but that's okay. it's only me.

Wel, I agree with you, Druscilla, it could be a good idea. Unfortunately I have a little garden in front of my house, I have a sort of "garden table", made with stone and some stone garden-seats, but we never eat there. Italians are not used to eat in their gardens.

Oh my goodness that would be so awesome! I actually do have a picnic table in my dining room, but it is a Little Tykes one for the children! I would love to have a non traditional set up like that though. If I were to remodel and put in a pool though, I would make sure I hired a handsome guy to make margaritas at that tiki bar. Oh, and wouldn't it be great if you could get Jimmy Buffet to come play a few songs on Saturday nights?

We have a really small kitchen so I doubt a picnic table would fit...not to mention that it is just Hubby and I so that would be way too big for us. If it was a small picnic table, I might...just for fun.
