Hey, I just got the original unreleased soundtrack from that movie, Cyn. Vinyl. with a color book, 2 posters, a special single of that song, with Don't Be Shy on the flip side. I got it on e-bay and it's a treasure beyond measure to me!

From the first time I ever spoke to you this is exactly how I pictured you. I never wanted to say anything because Maude is technically old enough to be your mother and I didn't want to offend you if you didn't know who she was and I had to start off by saying "she is the 79 year old woman" LOL

But you got this comparison spot on in my book.

You also remind me of a woman I work with named Sandy. She is exactly like you. You two even sound alike! It is freaky.

She adopted me our 2nd day of work and I really do call her mom. She even tells my kids to come see gramma Sandi when she comes over.

I would not be surprised in the least to meet you and have you look like her.

That kills me, Cyn! You saw me as Maude. I don't think that I could receive a better compliment, frankly. I so love that woman! She's my ideal of myself, so thank you, Cyn, geez.

Sandi, huh? GrammaSandi. Interesting - I wonder if we do look alike. Well, I've been waiting for a couple of friends to send me some pictures online that they took recently, and I'm tired of waiting, so I'm gonna get one of those disposable cameras and have my bf Robin take some shots of me and then, I'm gonna send them snail mail to you, Lounge, Goodie, Bella and a couple of others I won't mention here, ahem, and you'll be able to see for yourself, finally. How about that idea? I like it. So I'll let you know when I need your real address. I take really sucky pictures, so it'll be hard to find good ones, but I think I'll be able to manage somehow, if I get a whole camera's worth. It will be 27 pictures to choose from, for cryin out loud!

Oh, btw, you can call me mom if you'd like. You wouldn't be my first adopted daughter, but you'd sure be a fave. I prefer mama, though, if it's all the same to you.:)

Mama it is. LoL. I call my real mom by her first name and I call Sandi mom and my step mom, mother cause it freaks her out cause she is only 10 years older than me, so mama works for me too:)

I wouldn't mind a 20' something year old now, and I am not near my 70's yet.

The only movies I can think of that I like are Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.
It's been 2 years or more since I saw a movie.
Oh I just thought of another one The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis.

That's funny. And I love the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies too. I just love Bruce Willis. Not cool to love him, but I do! the other ones are guilty pleasures, and I find myself watching them multiple times. But you need to find a FEMALE character, Goodie. Keep working on it. You will. If you like, I'll give it some thought and see if I can come up with anybody. Then we'll see if you think she fits you. What do you think?

So, if you know the movie, then you know me too. I was so young when I first saw that movie and I really wanted to be like her. Now it seems that I've grown up to be JUST like her in so very many ways. At least there's one thing I can say that I've done well. To have that kind of outlook, in spite of and even because of everything, is a true gift and I cherish and nurture it within myself. My spirit is indomitable - just like hers. The thing is, though, I don't intend to be done at 80. I don't intend to be done even close to 80. I do intend to carry on as long as life allows me to. I am so blessed, and I count those blessings every day.

And do pray tell, Maude, dost thou see thy younger boyfriend? hahahhhahah

Weeeellllllll, I do have an online 'friend' that I spend entirely too much time with, both on the computer and on the phone, and he is younger than me by the exact same amount as my husband is. 7 years. Not bad, I guess. Not the vast gap as was between Harold and Maude, but not too bad, either. Gotta love those younger men, don't we, HD, their zest, verve, and, um, stamina!

I think you're right, Raijin, I am truly a free soul. You have vision, don't you? You see more than what's in front of you, my dear. And I could easily see you relating to Robin Williams. I happen to love him so much. He's funny, silly, and also very compassionate and loveable. And yes, he's hugely expressive, much like you. You don't have to grow old grumpy, veganprince! It's all a matter of attitude and perspective - you can be happy if you decide to be. You can choose to look at the things that happen in your life as things that are 'done to you' or things that you've chosen to use for your own betterment and growth. You can become bitter, or you can become dismissive of the angst in life, and turn it into a way to joy. Love is the key, veganprince, it's that simple, yet that complex, too. Keep love in your heart, and give it every day. Learn from your mistakes, and forgive yourself for your foibles. Forgive others for theirs. Remember, we're only human, and therefore terribly fallible. But we can choose for ourselves what life will make of us. I'm pretty sure you're going to make the right choices and live to be a very happy ole man, loving people and the gift of life.

One phrase I would never use to describe you, LJ, is 'no fun'! You have a marvelous spirit and you take some mighty big punches in this life and roll quite well with them. You seem to choose to make lemonade out of lemons and add your own special sweetener into the mix. Not finding a movie character to relate to or identify with is not even close to being no fun. I'm crazy for Greta Garbo! Always have been. What a beautiful woman and wonderful actress. And if you look even remotely like Nicole Kidman, at any stage in her or your life, you must be completely gorgeous! No doubt. Erin Brockovich is the coolest character to identify with, Natrak! I can see you as her, very easily, because you show a sense of justice and passion and the will to fight for what's right. Not just the will, either, the 'got what it takes', the action behind your words. A noble fight and a noble character to look to.

Harold and Maude for me will never be dated, or old, just a reminder of how life should be and how I want to continue to see the world around me. If you do watch it again, then you will see me, right there, fighting the good fight, causing mayhem, singing and dancing, and living, living, living!

Aurora Greenway is one of my favorite all time characters, Angel! Yes, she's manipulative, hugely so, but has the best of intentions. Proud, yes, great sense of humor, yes. And her sense of her own sexual nature was something I found to be inspiring and wonderful. She certainly didn't make age a factor either! Loved her! I love seeing you as her, too, Angel. Great comparison. So glad you got into the spirit here and responded with such a terrific character to represent yourself. Bravo, Aurora!

Oh, and the movie Harold and Maude is so old, but I'm sure you can find it. I really hope you do and watch it with me in mind, because she is so very much like me, or vice=versa, or whatever. You'll see, Angel, when you watch it. You'll be smiling and laughing the whole time. Well, almost, 'cause it does have a very sad part in it, but the feeling that you get from the movie is one of life-affirmation, no doubt!
