| | I used dreamweaver once and felt it was terribly complicated. It was great for just designing boring static pages but really had no good way of managing or updating content that I could understand, I did not like having to reupload everything to the server whenever I made a change... I used an open source software that runs in your browser called Drupal to create my website. I had never designed a website before in my entire life, so was really quite pleased with it. If you know php it will be a breeze for you to customize once you get the fundamentals down - I did it without understanding much php at all... Anyways, the link is on my profile if you want to see what I built using it...it is a blogging community, so I welcome you to create an account & start blogging also if you'd like to get some extra exposure on your sites :) | | | | | | |

| | Dreamweaver at first, can seem very daunting but it is an extremely powerful application when it is used to it's full potential. I learned all the ins and outs of it as part of my coursework last year, and while it's not my favourite application for web development it definitely deserves a mention. It's templating system is excellent, and it's site management features are extremely useful. IT has site map creating facilities, integrates excellently with fireworks for graphics and although I don't really approve of this method of development, it has a simple interface to building basic web applications with minimal coding required. It may not be the best for dynamic websites, but as a general design/site management app it is definitely one of the best. | | | |

| | I'm more of a web developer than designer myself, so I prefer to use code only editors/IDE's. My most favourite development environment ever is Quanta+, but unfortunately it's a *nix only application, so I can run it on my mac but it requires me to use X11 and isn't fully integrates with the OS X environment :(. The Current editor I use now is one called jEdit, and I quite like it. I tried out an IDE called Komodo, and I liked that almost as much as quanta but unfortunately I couldn't afford a license for it when my trial expired. I occasionally use Dreamweaver, but only for design type stuff, and even then I usually just end up coding by hand. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Yoshi, I can totally relate to you I also end up coding by hand. But for simple stuff like table layouts div layouts I use the visual editor just because its a lot faster then my typing (at least i think so because in the end I end up change the code but oke). I have heared of jEdit and it is pretty nice. As for komodo never used it. I do use notepad++ (free and for windows ;)). works fine but isn't really that special. With kind regards, MOnline | | | |

| | Hi usyda, Thank you for your reply. I agree that dreamweaver works very easily but I guess for advanced users its a bit of a problem because it doesn't work nicely in code mode. But as for designing websites. I works great. With kind regards, MOnline | | | |

| | I usually use dreamweaver to make websites. But if you need content to be easily organised and updatable you might need to use a CMS (content management system) for example joomla, modx and drupal. | | | | | | |

| | Hi lifeinthedarknight, I do use CMS systems most of the time. I have created my own system only thing I need to do is integrate it into my website. I used code snippets in dreamweaver to easily add the codes to the websites I designed in adobe. Thanks for your reply, With kind regards, MOnline | | | |

| | Hi moneycentral, Thank you very much for replying. It's true dreamweaver looks a bit complex when first using it. But when you get the hang of it it works great. To bad not everyone takes the time to get used to it ;). With kind regards, MOnline | | | |
