I think things got well out of hand there, just er a little! OMG talk about drastic action! To resort to those measures I reckon it was the girlfriend who had a lucky escape to get rid of him. Like you rightfully said he realized that she smoked, so what was his problem? instead of kicking the cat after a bad day he decides to take it out on his nearest and dearest, charming guy NOT. Nope she was definitely well rid of him. I would ask her to smoke in another room or outside even. I'm sure compromises can be made, that's what relationships are all about right? Compromise?

Number 1 .. if he was her boyfriend he knew she smoked. And if he was her boyfriend, he must have accepted that she smoked, or he would have been with someone who is a nonsmoker... Sounds like a dumba$$ to me. No, I wouldn't be in a situation where i had to deal with the smoke in the first place. I wouldn't be with a s/o who smokes.

She should have had him arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Depending on what kind of fire exstiguisher is was, he could have blinded her with the chemicals. It does not matter if he knew whether she smoked or not. he was way out of line doing what he did.

If he wanted to make a point he could have dumped a bowl of water on her. He would not have hurt her, and it would have had the same shock value if that was what he was after. The man is a idiot and an menace to society if he is that brainless.

I know i really should not find this funny. But I am actually laughing my butt off right now. It makes me wonder how fast they moved in together if he had no diea that she smoked. It also makes me wonder how psychotic she was if she could not take the darn thing outside. And also, how irrational is he to tke a fire extinguisher to his girlfriend!? Jeeze. I would probably only care about the apartment damage once the shock of how i attacked my boyfriend witha fire extinguisher wore off. How silly of this guy. He could have dumped a glass of water on the cigarette and it would have gone out immediately. Some people just do bizarre things in life.

For goodness sake. Talk about taking something to the extreme. Why not just ask her to leave? Why trash the apartment? How very childish of the guy. If I were the girl, I'd almost be glad that it happened as it did. It sounds like had they gotten into a relationship, that he might have been capable of violence. She might have ended up being a battered spouse. Geeze.

Hi mooch! I find that very nasty behavior on the guy. he could have talked it out with his girlfriend and I don't possibly understand how can't he know that his girlfriend is not smoking? He should have known because when you get in the stage of getting an apartment together, at least you know more about your partner especially smoking. Can't he smell her? And so, if I am that guy I wouldn't do such thing. I will try to help her quit smoking and of course, I would care about the damage done to the apartment but I guess, it is entirely my fault for being so drastic, irrational and stupid. hehe..Just my thoughts. I believe this guy step way out of line but at the same time so did the girl. I am a smoker and at one time in my life I lived with a non smoker. The best way to handle the situation would be for the girl to go outside to smoke. But this is something that should have been addressed before they got the apartment together. When I lived with the non smoker (my ex boyfriend), I smoked outside. If it was raining I would smoke inside next to a window with the window up and blow the smoke outside. The way this guy handled the situation was really not called for.

sounds like this guy got pretty pissed off due to the fact that his girlfriend lit up a cigarette and refused to put it out. and the article said that he was finished with her and didn't want to have anything else to do with her? in my opinion, good thing that she found out how mad this guy gets, and it was a "good thing" for this lady to have lost him. and it sounds to me like he didn't care about tearing up anything in his apartment. i certainly do not need anybody that does that kind of thing hanging out around me.

The fanatic boyfriend is a moron. It doesn't make sense to cultivate a relationship to the point of having a partner move in with you, knowing her habits, and then do something as rediculous and fringe psychotic as what he did.
If he decided that the smoking was just too much then he should have had a discussion with her, and, if need be, break up with her. Even then, how fair is it to disrupt someone's life and living arrangement to the extent that he eventually did having known that she was a smoker? It all comes down to him being a control freak, one of those screwed up individuals who put someone in a vulnerable position and then attempt to impose change in accordance with his will. He should have been charged with assualt and put in jail.
