Oh, this Easter candy is killing me!!! |
|
Ugh, for the past 2 weeks, when I go to the grocery store, I have seen the Easter candy out and I just can't seem to NOT buy the Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs. They are my absolute favorite!!! First I bought a box (of 6) and ate 2 right away. I also took one to work with me, and by the time I got home there was only 1 left - my husband and son each had one. So, this past week, I bought TWO boxes of them. That was Sunday and today they're all gone - I ate the last 3 on my way to work this morning. I could eat probably 4 boxes of them in one sitting, I just love them so much. It sure isn't helping my diet any!!!

1. olivemai (2765) | 2 years ago | At this time of the year, the valentine's candy is still on sale! Up to 75 percent off, and those peanut butter cups come in valentine form too! I know what you mean about those being so irresistible! I make them myself, and to make them more healthy, I use ground flaxseed to add fiber and omega-3. To make them with less fat and calories, I use cocoa instead of chocolate chips.

reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | I have had the ones from other seasons - Christmas tree and pumpkin-shaped ones but they just aren't as good as the Easter egg ones. Don't know why, but I just love 'em!
I don't know about making my own, I'd eat most of the ingredients before it was finished.

olivemai (2765) | 2 years ago | The regular homemade ones are easy! Just add peanut butter, confectioners sugar, and cocoa or use melted chocolate chips to make it easier! Some add butter too, but you really do not have to. Maybe that is why you like the Easter ones better, there is added butter in them! The store-bought ones might have transfat, or hydrogenated fat in them. We know it better as margarine or lard!

2. RLFinNash (5721) | 2 years ago | hello reinydawn
i cannot resist those Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs either. they just melt in your mouth. they are just so delicious and fresh. i think that is about the best candy that i have ever eaten. they need to put more than six of them to a package of them, like a dozen to a package of them. lol. sometimes one of the local stores will run a sell on them, like two for $3.00 or something like that. and i hear ya about the Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs not being good for your diet. lol.
have a beautiful evening.

reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | I remember when my kids were younger, I'd go to Sam's Club and buy a HUGE box of them. And eat most of them before Easter, then I'd have to go get more!!! I just can't resist them and I'm glad they're "finally" gone:)

3. Transdisc (18489) | 2 years ago | Oh yes, reinydawn, I just love those Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs!! Like you, I buy them by the box and I typically eat them all in one sitting just as quickly as I can open them and stuff them into my mouth! Yum!!

reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | I was so proud of myself for not scarfing them all down - which is exactly what I wanted to do! I think my son and husband each got one out of the whole 2 boxes... I have a LOT of empty wrappers in the car though.

4. GardenGerty (20576) | 2 years ago | I have not bought any Easter candy. I am having a hard time finishing off the Valentine candy. I do not crave it at all, but if someone gives it to me, I will eat it. I am more of the type that craves pizza, and cheeses.

7. vulgarlittleprincess (460) | 2 years ago | I have the same problem with Cadbury Caramilk Eggs! I actually gave up chocolate for lent because I ate so many of them. When I purchased everything that was on my tab at work the other day there was a total of about 12 of these eggs that I had eaten in the past two weeks. I am not a very big fan of reeses peanut butter things, especially the peanut butter cups. When I was a little girl I ate three of them and then proceeded to get very very car sick. I have eaten perhaps one peanut butter cup since, and that was only because my sister made me one halloween. They were good! but... too many bad memories haha. I would say that I could eat the entire bin full of caramilk eggs. I eat a ton of caramilk bars too, well I did while i was working in a convenience store. I gained thirty pounds from the time I started working there to when i stopped.

reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | I can understand why you don't like them any more - just means more for me though:)
I love the original cadbury eggs, but haven't had one in ages. I could eat them up pretty quickly too.
Hey, if it's got sugar in it, I'm all over it. I do have to slow it down though because I've lost 10 lbs (30 more to go) and I don't want to gain them back!

vulgarlittleprincess (460) | 2 years ago | The cadbury cream eggs?! I LOVE those they are SO good! I can't eat as many of those in one sitting as I can the caramilk ones because they are so sweet. I started working in a convenience store and gained thirty out of the fourty pounds I had lost from eatng all kinds of chocolate. But I think I mentioned that in my alst post (hey gotta get my fifty words out!) You are more than welcome to eat my peanut butter cups! I would mail you a slew of them if I had any haha. I gave up chocolate for lent to try to lose some of the weight that I gained. One pound gone, thirty one to go. -sigh-

|
reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | I have recently lost 10 lbs - 30 more to go - and if I keep eating these eggs it'll never happen. I just finished a small bag of m&m's so I'm done with chocolate for another 10 pounds or so!
| |
|
|
vulgarlittleprincess (460) | 2 years ago | congratulations on the ten pounds! I am currenly up to a total loss of two. haha. I went to the store last night to get pills for a migraine and ended up, in my painful not thinking state, buying a small blueberry pie and then eating it all at home. It was sooo good tho! Baked goods are my weakness and the store about 3 minutes from my house has its own bakery. I am so going to be two hundred pounds by the time I move out of here. Maybe I should have a, no baked goods for 8 more pounds rule, like your no chocolate for ten more pounds rule.
| |
|
|
reinydawn (4236) | 2 years ago | That's a great idea! I do believe we need to have some sweets or whatever it is we like, but make them a reward for being good - and try not to go overboard. I'll have just 2 peanut butter eggs after the next 10 lbs, not two boxes!

9. Goodie123 (7548) | 2 years ago | ReinyDawn, you are very naughty. Everytime you go to the store, you need to say. "I will resist all tempation, I will resist all tempation" Now if you keep saying that all the way through the store you will be fine. Do not worry about the funny looks you will get from other shoppers. they are the ones who have no will power. LOL
