German Police Dogs to wear shoes  

Well they do say comfort before beauty, sorry but I was imagining these dogs going around with Jimmy Choo shoes and taking the mickey out of a dog wearing clarks! I think it is a very good idea, because you don't realize that dogs paws are soft and can be badly cut by broken glass etc! It's not like horses who have horseshoes. What about special horseshoes designed for dogs? But they have to be soldered on don't they, bad idea wolfie! I certainly want my paws protected too. I think any villain running away from the law sees a dog with shoes on he'll start laughing and that will slow him down for the dogs to catch up with him!

I think this is a great idea for the police dogs that go into the unknown while on duty but for every day dogs I can't really see that this would be something they had to have since they are on the end of the leash and you can make sure the dog is not going to walk in glass or anything else like that which could harm their paws.

I would get my dog some shoes knowing it would protect his paws. When you own a pet they become part of your family..I wouldn't send my kids outside w/o shoes not knowing if there was glass,nails...ect...So goes for my pet.

Well I doubt very much I could get my dog to wear shoes, but I can see the importance of it. I haven't taken my dog for a walk yet, (I hate the cold), but when I do because she has long hair between her pads, my daughter said we need to be especially careful to check them after each walk..

So if they can get the dogs to wear shoes, then great, less worry of their feet getting hurt..:)

I think shoes on dogs are getting more and more possible, especially in the winter months where there is snow,ice and cold. My daughter told me that Pet Smart or someplace like that is selling shoes for dogs. I bet it takes a while for the dogs to get used to them.

I think it is great, we have tried boots on our dogs and they were not used to them, and hated them. In the winter, their feet get so cold that they lay down on the ground rather then walking, there is nothing like having to carry a 90 pound dog home.

I think it is a great idea and would love to see get a pair of those shoes.

Horses wear shoes... have for a long time. It would just make sense that dogs would too, eh?
