If the sequels turn out to be as good as its predecessor, Casino Royal's leading man, Daniel Craig, would be my pick for the best James Bond. But for him, maybe its a bit too early to tell.

Connery Sean Connery. The answer is just that simple. He was the first serious Bond. Peter Sellers was actually the first in the original movie Casino Royale. The first Bond movies were more plot orinented. They weren't so concerned with the visual affects which the later ones starting with Roger Moore one were preoccupied with. Connery had a combo wit, charm and a sense of menance the following three failed to live up to. Daniel Craig in his first outing is the closest to exhibit these qualities, but as previousily mentioned it's too early to conclude his take on the character. In conclusion is that the first Bond named Sean is simply the best.
