Really? I didn't know that..But I thought all dog food had meat because that is their primary diet.

They do have meat, but there is a difference between chicken and chicken by products. When the food is labeled chicken it is actually real cuts of chicken. With the by products it could be necks, feet, etc.

Oh yeah, dogs are a handful and I do brush her, though I should also invest in a shedding brush, but anything to make my job easier is what I am looking for..:)

I do have a wire brush, but want to get a real shedding brush, because at this time, we are not in shedding season, so if she is bad now, come summer, it will be a nightmare..

Are you talking about what some people call the razer brush or shedding brush? Because we are going to look into that.. And I know all dogs shed, but this is my first long hair, (white German shepherd) and her shedding is about as bad as a short hair, some come summer, I am wanting to get into a routine that works to not eliminate, but cut down on the shedding all over my house..:)

Ok thanks dogperson, I will show this to my daughter. I also googled shedding brush, Wow, the different kinds of brushes there are..lol

I showed my daughter and she thought those were to get tangles out. And just found out that the shedding blade, maybe not work as well either.:( Here is a link for that

I have used the brushes show and while they get the top coat, not all that well on the long hair dogs I used them on, the double row rake, reaches the inner coat and the outer coat and along the way takes out tangled hair.

By reaching down and getting the inner coat, it allows the dogs skin, to breathe better if you will, the inner coat gets thicker for winter and acts as an insulator.

All the hair is shed.

The rakes allow the inner coat to be removed also, along with the top coat, along with tangles and twigs, leaves and what ever else they have gotten into.

Trial and error and some dollars spent, and I found the best brush for my crew.

Thanks dogperson, I may look into the rake then, because she is already getting huge sticks in the backyard, I can just see it when summer hits and she gets all kinds of things stuck in her fur..
