Minnesota residents beating the no smoking ban...........  |

|  Where there is a will there is a way, and for smokers who are often targeted with many unfair laws and taxes here is a way the bars are working to get around it
>All the world's a stage at some of Minnesota's bars. A new state ban on smoking in restaurants and other nightspots contains an exception for performers in theatrical productions. So some bars are getting around the ban by printing up playbills, encouraging customers to come in costume, and pronouncing them "actors."<
While the health department wants to stop this loophole, you have to know that many do try to make it fun, and costume nights and the like, but most just print playbills and have people act as a bartender, the owner to exploit the loop hole.
I think its funny, and hope that people do get the hint that htere do need to be places that people smoke and bars is often one of them, as well as restaurants.

Resteraunts no,I dont want people smoking anywhere near me when I eat,and I am a smoker.
If there are children in resteraunts,then thats another good reason for a smoking ban.We shouldnt be smoking any where near kids.Ever. | | | | | | |

| |  Here in Scotland we have had the smoking ban for quite a while and it is actually going pretty well.
I think the smoking ban is a great idea to be honest and I totally agree with it.

| |  I totally encourage the no-smoking ban, partly because I am a non-smoker, even though my husband is. From where I came from, there are sections reserved for smokers and non-smokers in all non-airconditioned eating areas. In restaurants, smoking is completely banned. Certain bars and nightclubs also discourage smoking. But thumbs up to the intelligent ploy the minnesota residents are doing. They really fight for their smoke.

| |  I don't drink, but if I did drink I wouldn't smoke because I don't smoke either. I used to smoke and I used to go to a bar every now and again, but all that stopped years ago. I too feel that those who choose to smoke should have a place to do it, as long as no one else has to smell it.
When I did smoke, I was very conscious to people that weren't smokers. If I felt that my smoke would bother someone else, I didn't light up.

| |  I love it.I am a non smoker who is for smokers rights.I always thought there should be smokers clubs, a bar designated For smokers.That way the smokers have place and the non smokers can stay away.

Well I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and there are no loop holes that the bars could use here. There is absolutly no smoking anywhere in the public, here, no exceptions. The bars and bingo halls are really hurting. You can go into a bar at any time of the day or night and you will hardly ever see more than 20 people in them at any given time. A lot of the bars and bingo halls have had to shut down because there is no business in them. They have tried to stay open thinking that in time people would come back, but after 2 years they have given up and shut them down. I think this ban is has really hurt our economy. I think that it should be allowed to smoke where there are no children allowed, like bars and bingo halls.
