My husband knows me too well |
|
I guess after almost 16 years of marriage and knowing me for 17 years, on his way out the door he told me not to move any furniture...
Actually the thought had not crossed my mind, but now that he mentions it, if my foot wasn't in so much pain from all the walking we did yesterday, I probably would be out trying ot unload the van that still has the table and chairs in it.
I've done worse though, when we had our house, and we had just moved there, I was unloading the van, I don't remember where my husband was, but I was unloading a moving truck and got major things off like a washer and dryer, while I had a cast on my foot.
So if my feet were not in so muh pain, I think I would be trying to unload the furniture, and move it in and set it up myself.
Have you ever moved a heavy piece of furniture by yourself?
Mooch

1. OreoCookie3 (18601) | 2 years ago | Well I have never done that, but my daughter had moved couches and heavy things like that all by herself. She would usually then be down in her back for a few days afterward and her husband would get all irritated with her because she did not wait for him to get off work to do it himself.

3. RLFinNash (5721) | 2 years ago | hello mooch
i will be right there to help you move that table and chairs inside while your hubby is gone this morning.:)
and no, to answer your question, i have not ever tried to move a heavy piece of furniture by myself like that. don't get me wrong, when we move, or something like that, i pull my share of the weight. i move all of the little stuff that i can inside of the car, and in the trunk of it, along with Doughnut as well, while my hubby and his buddies gets the heavy things. and the last time that we moved, my Mom watched the boys for us while we moved everything. so that was a big help right there for us.
enjoy your new table and chairs. i need new kitchen chairs, the boys are rough on the chairs in the house and i am constantly getting onto them about it. last time one of their friends came to spend the night, one of my kitchen chairs got broke and nobody fessed up to it, so, guess what?, that little boy hasn't been back to my house since. so, if they keep having friends over here at my house to spend the night and things keep getting broke, like my chair did and my downstairs window, then i guess that i will just have to put my foot down and nobody will be spending the night here for a long time. i am sick of my things getting broken by children that aren't even my own.
have a wonderful day today!

4. ebberts (727) | 2 years ago | After almost 30 years together we know each other pretty well. I allways tell him I know him better than he knows himself. As far a moving heavy objects. Yes I used to be able to move what ever I wanted and I did. I was very independant as was my mother and didn't as for help if I could do it myself. Now I have to ask for help. I have Fibromyalgia and If I don't watch what I am doing look out. My kitchen sink stoped up the other day So I took it upon myself to fix the problem. I ended up at the hospital. I had pulled my stomache muscles. I don't think I be doing that again in the near future. It was painfull.

I am so glad that you are not unloading that table today and that your husband is looking out for you:) As for washers and dryers...No I have never attempted something like that on my own! I do pull out couches and chairs to clean on my own but nothing really heavy like that!
Take Care and I hope that your foot is feeling better soon!

8. GardenGerty (20329) | 2 years ago | I used to do that a lot. Especially when we first moved the renter out of the upstairs and took over both floors of this house. I pushed huge pieces of furniture up the stairs so that we could actually sleep in the bedrooms. I have a sore shoulder from do it yourself type projects. I have a bum knee, as well. I try to wait for help if possible now.

9. kbourgerie (1919) | 2 years ago | Yes, I have plenty of times, but I remember one time I moved a desk on my own and I broke it in doing so. My boyfriend at the time was really ticked. Can't say I blamed him, because it was a lovely roll top desk, but did it stop me from doing it again? NO, I am too hard headed and when I want something done, I want it done then and don't want to wait until someone feels like helping me.

10. Ldyjarhead (5170) | 2 years ago | I was living alone and had purchased a new queen sized mattress and box spring. The man at the store was able to tie it onto my vehicle for me, and I figured I might be able to find a neighbor to help me get it into the house.
Well of course the neighbor wasn't home, so I tackled it myself. Man, that was a chore. Mattresses are so cumbersome, and I had to maneuver it up the curvy walkway and onto a step, then turn and another step into the house.
That was NOT fun, but I got the job done.
