What to do?  | |  My son is 18 months old and I am ready for another one. My problem is that my husband is NOT! Has anyone else had this problem? Any benefits I can share with him about having kids less than 3 years apart? I have also tried to explain to him that just because we start trying doesn't mean it is going to happen right away and then it's another 9-10 months before we have the baby!

| | | | | | 1.  daeckardt (861) | 2 years ago |  I don't have any kids, but I would find this to be an interesting discussion. I think that three years is a good spacing. There would be advantages to waiting longer, but there are also disadvantages.
The main advantage I could see would be that they would be close enough together that they could be good playmates. If you were to wait longer, there would be more problems between them because the younger one would want to do things with the older one and the older one wouldn't want to be bothered. That is what happened in my family. The three older kids were about two years apart (Aug 1958, Jan 1960, and Dec 1961). The other three were in Nov 1964, Jan 1966 and Aug 1967. The younger ones got along well together and the older ones did, but there were problems between the older ones and the younger ones. It was an advantage to my mom to have me taking care of the new baby when I was 7,but I don't know if that would be a good reason to wait or not. Sorry I couldn't help more. Have a great day!!!
