|  I have another of my boring books suggestions topics 
This time it's a Mexican book...i am not sure how it would be to read it in English or any other language than spanish honestly because i was lucky enough to read the original and Im not sure any translation could do it any kind of justice...but it's a book, and it's been translated and it's probably one of the most amazing books I've ever read...
Pedro Pàramo - by Juan Rulfo
In brief, Juan Preciado promised to his dying mother to go and find his father, Pedro Pàramo (Pàramo in Spanish means deserted land...and Pedro has it's origin in the latin word for Stone...the name itself has alot to say on the character)...Juan leaves to go to Comala, where his father is supposed to live, to meet him...but once there he starts to live very weird encounters and adventures...we meet all the inhabitants of the town which is actually deserted...until we realize that those speaking are nothing else but...the ghosts of the inhabitants...and that at around mid book, Juan is dead too and interacts with the other characters since he is a ghost like them... We get to learn the story of each of them...almost all having to do with Pedro Pàramo of course...
The book is beautiful...truly evocative...to use the words of another Mexican genious, Octavio Paz:
Juan Rulfo 'is the only Mexican novelist who has given us an image—instead of just a description—of our landscape.'
But it might take more than one reading to truly understand it...I knew all details because i was studying it for uni and yet i had to read it at least twice to get it (well i read it more than twice because i just love it :p)...anyway its such a short novel and so intriguing that it is not a big deal picking it up twice or more ...

| |  Nope not boring me anyway, keep them coming. I'm always on the look out for a good book.
At the moment it is Italian authors - Eco, Calvino, Genna and Luther Blisset/Wu Ming, although I'm still getting round to having another go at Q. Have you read it? My friends say once you get past the 300 page mark it gets good.

Oh Im not sure about Q ... but i read The name of the Rose by Eco and it's wonderful...also Calvino...i love the trilogy, im not sure of the english titles but there is something like the half-viscount, the unexisting knight and the one of the noble guy that lived on trees :p i had an exam on those three at uni and it was great re-reading them for it since i had read them when i was younger...
I have another favourite in Italian literature...The Letters of Jacopo Ortis by Ugo Foscolo...okay if you read Young Werther its kind of the same, but Foscolo adds to the pain for love the pain for the homeland fights and so on...its set at the same time as Werther since that's the author's time but still i love it...
