pencil shavings.. |
| |
| We have this electric pencil sharpener, but since my son uses colored pencils more than a regular pencil, the shavings are very pretty and colorful.. I have thought that these would be good to use as I would for glitter, by gluing onto paper or something to make a colorful and unique art my son can make.. Do you have any other ideas I can use the shavings for? | | | | | |

| | Wow I can't think of anything else, wouldn't have thought of your idea but what a great one - my grandson loves using the electric shapener but never thought of doing something with the shavings. | | | | | | |

| | We have had the sharpener for years, but only used it occasionally for regular pencils..But my 5 y/o loves using colored pencils and he uses them a lot, so I end up emptying the sharpener more, but the other day, it was so colorful, I thought, I can't just toss this away.. | | | |

| | Oh I love that idea too - I'm going to have to make a list of these for my grandkids to do. We have a million old canning jars the kids could use some of those and we could make lids for them from cloth or something. | | | |

| | I'm glad you like it. I noticed someone mentioned using the crayon shavings. Something we did as a kid was to take the shavings and place them between sheets of wax paper and then iron them (at a low setting) so it melted together. It could make some really nice designs. It was really fun in the fall months because then we could add in leaves between the sheets and the colors would be fantastic. | | | |

| | I haven't either. I'll tell you though finding wax paper isn't always easy either. I can only find it at the dollar store. For craft ideas you might want to check there, amazing what you can find that is cheap and fun to do. | | | |

| | My first thought was to press the shavings in between two square pieces of glass or thick clear plastic to make decorative coasters. I likes the idea about the glass bottles too. | | | | | | |

| | Glue them onto construction paper and put them into a picture frame! lol I dont think that would work.. because youd have to flatten them and itd take away from the .. texture.. or the .. you know.. 3d-ness. | | | | | | |

| | I used to have instructions for using saw dust and a white glue mixture to make a moldable dough that when it hardened looked like carved wood. I wonder if something similar could be done with your pencil shavings. | | | | | | |
