Beauty of the city -- Where has it gone email this discussion to a friend?

I am from Pune city, living here for the last 16 years. I have seen it change for the better and the worse in this period. Once upon a time a slow paced city, it has picked up with all the discs, malls, multiplex and all. But we payed a heavy price for it.

The climate of this serene hill station has changed permanantly. Once a rainforest where rains were expected all 12 months a year or upto a few years ago - the rains could be expected at least after the city's temperature went up above a certain limit.

But now nothing like that. Hot summers, colddddd winters and wierd rains - that is what my city has come to. And to top it all the city politicians are now eyeing the hills for roads. Now it is roads, then it will pumps and then commercial complexes and residences. There is no end to it. If that happens, then I dread to think what will happen to this city.

There is a saying all good things come with a price. Your city is not only suffered and paid the price of growth. Any other city has a story of its own to tell. We people are too selfish to understand this. People are giving up agriculture and land so that a business complex can be built. Result change in climate. We are not looking in this. We may escape but future generations will suffer and curse their forefathers i.e. us. We are paying the price for our developement

Surely they are going to curse us. I mean even in cities where I live, bungalows are brought down and commercial complexes coming up. The infrastructure not enhanced. So then you have traffic issue, water supply and electricity problems, pollution. Why are we doing this to ourselves

I do appreciate you for choosing my response as best. In fact the subject itself has the answers with it. I just changed the words. Thanks once again
