It definately is silly and outdated! to say the least...I agree with you that ppl shoudl be able to wear whatever the bloody hell they want...like you siad, its THEIR DAY....

I agree with you. Nobody has the right to meddle with my own wedding. It is my wedding and I will do whatever I want. I will wear whatever color I chose. And besides, how sure are they that those brides who wore white on their wedding day are all virgins? Nobody could if a woman is virgin or not except herself.

Just like anything, people like to meddle in weddings as well the rest of people's lives, Galena. I have never understood it and I never will.

hi galena- i agree with you fully there is no reason why a person virgin or not should not wear a white dress at their wedding--yet there again people dont like black to be worn either for a wedding dress yet when i got married i nearly bought a beautiful black bodice and white skirt wedding dress but in the end wore orange and white--anyone should be able to where whatever colour they like and be respected for it as you say it is there special day blessed be littleowl

I suppose I wasn't technically "entitled" to wear white, but I proudly wore a beautiful white dress and veil when I married (seven years ago yesterday). I really believe in as little judgement as possible. A bride should be able to wear whatever she wants on her day. To say otherwise in this day and age would be silly in my opinion. So, long story short, I absolutely agree with you. Cheers!

Exactly. I agree completely. I get tired of these silly outdated conventions that often have no meaning & make no sense.
For my first wedding I wore ivory, because I liked it.
For my second wedding I wore Royal Blue. It was a skirt & top.

Oh I completely and totally agree with you on this one. The perfect wedding dress that I found was actually ivory. But that doesn't mean I didnt find some other beautiful ones in white that I would have been perfectly happy wearing. And I would have, too! And I have 3 kids---not from immaculate conception! I think that was a long ago tradition that few people follow anymore, though I could be wrong. I am not very religious, so I wonder if maybe it is something from religion that I am just not too aware of. I think you should get married in pink, blue, purple--or whatever the heck you feel like on that particular day! All the more power to you!

Yes ... I agree with you that this is a silly outdated "rule". I wore a long white dress in my second wedding and I did not think anything of it. It kills me when people say well if you are going to wear white if you have been married before or are not a virgin then it has to be an "off white". What is this ... some sort of punishment that you can't wear "pure white"? It is the bride's day and you should wear whatever you want. One of my friends years ago wanted to wear red at her wedding and everyone thought that this was so wierd. I wanted to wear a veil at my wedding but someone told me that this is not done because I had been married before. However, I have seen photos of celebrities that have worn veils and they had been married before. Oh well, I wore a beautiful tiara instead!
