we are going to try the wax decorating art of pysanka this year! I am so excited to give it a whirl, hope they come out nicely. too bad my chickens are not into lay yet - what is keeping them I do not know.

you can dye with using tea and even onion skins - for an interesting effect
one year we used different colored tissue papers which ended up looking like stained glass - we put ribbon bows on the top and varnished the eggs to a high gloss, they were so lovely as ornaments.

I decorated eggs with my little granddaughter before coming here to Nebraska. We will be dying them here too...we are also going to do an Easter project. You blow up a balloon, then take crochet thread dipped in glue...or other adhesive and wrap it around the balloon and let it dry overnight...in the morning we will burst the balloon and have a giant easter egg that we are going to put grass in the bottom and then fill it with a little bunny and easter candy..most likey chocolate!

Are you talking chocolate easter eggs or the boiled variety? If it is boiled eggs I let my kids do it! They usually paint them but you can also stain them in cold tea or coffee and add woll or sting for hair and draw/paint on faces - my kids love getting to do that! xxx

It's been so many years since we decorated Easter eggs. We bought kits or used dye and placed each color in a separate bowl and dunked the eggs. We didn't have fancy decorations like they do now. If it's warm out I would shy away from putting chocolate in the plastic eggs. Jelly beans make a good candy to put in the eggs.

Have fun and enjoy the day,
carolbee

I've never once decorated easter eggs in all my life, although I've seen some decorated ones which were mostly painted eggs. Some are really lovely and captivating. Well, it will be a fun time later today for your children to be involved in painting some attractive designs on eggs. Let their creativity flow and their imagination take flight, while at the same time having an enjoyable time in an egg-citing family activity. I have put together 12 designs you can readily use to design your eggs, if you have nothing else in mind. I've attached it here. If you think you can use any of these and need a larger picture of it, just pm me. I've also come across some nice completed eggs, and will include these in another post here a little later. Happy Painting!!

Designs for painting easter eggs

Here are more designs to look at, if you do not want to just use lines, curves and circles. They can be very attractive if drawn properly and painted in attractive colors. I particularly like the dinosaur and bird hatching out from the egg.

Here is a compilation of colored easter eggs I have found. Their colors are very vibrant and they certainly make a pretty picture in this poster collection. You may get some inspiration from what you see here, in addition to the patterns I have depicted earlier. So do you have enough material and ideas to use for your easter egg coloring activity?

Thanks as usual for the vote. So how did your easter eggs turn out? Did you take a picture of them?

I haven't decorated eggs in years. We have done the easter egg hunt with the younger children in the family for years though. I have geared away from putting candy in the eggs for probably about the lat five years, and started putting change in the platic eggs. The kids really like it to see how much they get.
