beware of that Picasso you bought on ebay, it is likely a fake |
| |
| Ok, most of us on here couldn't afford to buy a picasso, but this is just one more sign of being careful on ebay, some of these people will do anything that they can to make a buck.... thousands of prints have been sold online, since 1999... >Sale prices ranged up to $50,000 for counterfeit prints that came with forged artists' signatures and fake certificates of authenticity that were sold in galleries, at art shows and through Internet auction site eBay, Fitzgerald said.< http://news.yahoo.com/s/n... I have seen people who have, and have been taken on ebay mysef, not to the tune of 50,000, but one would think that selling artwork like on this that could be worth a fortune for a song and dance, Would you trust that people sell a genuine work of art on ebay, even with 'certificates of authenticity'? | | I've seen so many people on the court tv programs who have been scammed by buying what they thought were authentic pieces of art or autographed things and wonder where in the world their minds were. If I could afford that stuff ebay would not be the place I would be looking. | | | | | | |

| | i would be skeptical of most things on ebay like that - I think If I am going to spend that kind of money I would have it appraised by a certified appraiser... I recently started a "This Week on Ebay" column on one of my blogs for the stupid things on ebay - so far i've found mcdonald's garbage, an orange dot that doesn't exist (hey at least they're honest about ripping you off, lol)...an empty can of coke - nothing special about it - for $53...a strawberry that supposedly looks like jesus... I think this is why other than looking for stuff to put on my site and joke about I don't use the site :) | | | | | | |

| | I would not even think of buying an expensive painting on ebay, it would have to be false, the art galleries are the place for those kinds of transactions, even auction houses, world famous ones at that. | | | | | | |

| | hmm. i will surely not going to believe that some one is really selling a real picasso on ebay. of course when you have a painting as good or as famous as picasso. ebay is not really the place to sell it. and you will know instantly that the person selling one is really a fraud and a scam. picasso could be sold only in art galleries if they are real and if they are not stolen . most probably if they are really they have been stolen some where. i just don't know if there are some people who have fallen into such obvious lies and scams. i have not really experience. i have not bought any thing there and i have not auctioned any thing there too. hopefully i will be able to buy and find some cheap things . but i am really surprised that most of the item is have seen their are really as expensive as in other stores here in my place or near my place. i thought that ebay should suppose to be a place for cheap things. well i hope that there will less scamming on ebay. well as of now i still don't really trust ebay any longer. i just avoid to use or buy from there. i will just look at some items to compare some prices . but that's it i will not want to buy any thing from there. i will going to buy on reputed stores here in my place. | | | | | | |
