| | Hi HD, I don't eat much meat either, there is very little pure food left in the world for sure. Meat is produced in unnatural conditions, extra size and weight created by growth hormones and the diseases caused by the unnatural environment in which livestock are grazed makes the use of antibiotics essential. If you can get free range eggs from chickens that are allowed to roam, select there own food, have dust baths basically the eggs that were produced by families in their backyards - look at the eggs compared to the commercial eggs produced. Yolks are orange not yellow and when cracked the yolk stays in a tight circle and doesn't spread. After WWII and England still had rationing the instance of "lifestyle" diseases reduced dramatically. Would seem to be a fair indication that our current diet is causing a lot of problems. One thing I do is eat fresh, I go to the shop each day buy fresh vegetables and fruit and that is what I eat. I eat a lot of bread, but have found that bakehouse bread is a lot better than commercial bakery bread. I'm surprised that eating like this costs me a lot less than buying pre-packaged, pre-prepared food even the so called "specials". For me I think food is to provide nutrition not satisfy cravings. With a diet like this which I followed for about 18 months I even stopped smoking as my body senses seemed to be heightened, not sure why. Nice discussion topic and thanks for the link. | | | | | | |

This post is so refreshing to read..thank you, it was very uplifting for me to see that someone else is trying to follow a healthful lifestyle..really and truly, I like articles like this as it is a gentle reminder of how we abuse our bodies if we eat the standard American diet of prepackaged and too much meat.. You even have to watch it with fish now..I do like fish as it is good for you, but I dont get it very often. I am glad you go each day to get food, because that is important..you know when I lived in England and Ireland, that is the way it was..the shops were accessible and in walking distance, and I would usually buy everyday produce..much fresher and healthier. I am so very proud of you for not smoking, for giving it up too, it really is a poison to the body..you are doing just great! Yes, that is the standard diet, and the less you eat of stuff that MAKES you crave, the healthier you will be and will gradually not want those things! I agree!  | | | |
