Sand castle

Yeah when I was younger, I built a sand caste.. and we also build a tower. I remember those days, those were some really fun times.

I've tried but I've never been able to get too far into building sand castles. I can make creations, but nothing fancy. Nothing past what the buckets look like at least!

When I was a teenager, we only lived about forty minutes from the beach. So yes, I did learn to build with sand, but we never did anything fancy. Just enough to have fun with till the tides came in.

I've seen some of those competitions, they really get intricate, don't they? If I worked that hard, it would break my heart to see it washed away!

I have grown up by the sea but unfortunately I don't live there anymore, so I will just try to remember my castles in the sand. They were not something worth of attention to anyone but me, and I loved to play in the sand, I could do that for hours. I can almost feel the sun and sense the wind, but the feeling when you put your hands in hot sand is something that can't be described if you didn't feel it.
That was the whole point of building a castle for me, not just a castle that someone else will admire, but the joy while doing it.

Yes, I tried to build a tomb for my ex once, but when the water came in it just washed away the sand and not him. Darn.

That brings back memories my friend, building sandcastles on the beach! I used to love building a moat around the castle and go and collect the sea water from a bucket but off course the water would disappear as soon as you filled the moat up, and if you built the castle too near the sea the tide would come in and wash it all away! I have seen people make mermaids and other figures out of sand and they are absolutely amazing and put my small castles to shame.

I never used to do anything fancy but yes I used to make sand castles, I had loads of different shaped buckets that I used to cart to the beach with me and I would spend hours making my own little world, love it. I cannot wait to go away in May with the kids if the weather is good we can all make some.

When I was young, I used to love building sand castles at the beach. But those are child's play compared to what the professionals do these days. Some years ago, there was a professional sand castle building event at one of our local beaches called 'Sandsation', and I had the chance of going there to marvel at the creations. Sometimes I wish I have the skills to do the same on a grand scale. Here's a picture from Sandsation which I captured previously. It is really quite a big creation of Egyption origin.

I've never even been to the beach, Screech, but I do love sand castles a lot. I was sent an email some time ago by a friend and it contained photos of some of the sand sculptures that have been made. These things are amazing!

My first time, somehow it went well.. I tried to make a female torso.. My classmates were all looking at me while I tried to make a female figure that was lying on her back with one knee raised.


I was like just on top of it and my classmates would be mumbling quietly though I could still here them, "He's like massaging his victim.. "I just scooped sand with my hands and tried to "polish" it with a sandal from another classmate which happens to have a flat sole.


The next time I tried was a sand castle. It was simply difficult for me as I saw my older brother make simple towers and would already place sea shells and even managed to stick a flag. He then told me that I needed to sift the sand finely enough so that when they get wet, they stick to each other.


I guess my first attempt had fine sand easily available without me realizing
