Smart kid makes a dumb 'mistake'  |

|  Armed with a Computers for dummies book a teenager hacked into the schools computer system.
The teenager is 15, and was armed with the Book Computers for dummies.
I had no idea that a book could give insight to hacking,

The teenager faces one charge of violating Wisconsin's computer statute, and school disciplinary action...
What people don't realize is that computer forensics has become a science of its own and unless you really know what you are doing there is no way to erase it.
What gets me if he is self taught at this, he is a smart kid who made a dumb mistake...and while it cost the school district thousands of dollars to fix it, it showed them where the security loops were in their systeym
It reminds me back several years ago where a teenager had hacked into the Air Force computer, and needless to say he nixed his dream of joining the air for by doing it.
Hopefully this kid learns from what he did now and works towards keeping computers secure instead of hacking them.

| |  several years ago do you remember when the pentagon was hacked, and was a 17 year old if I remember,
also all kinds of computer crimes including sending out massive viruses that crash private and company computers all over have been done by teenagers or teenagers in concert with adults as well.
the kids of today are much more computer savvy then we ever were,

| | rubies the article did not say, and I don't know maybe he was just seeing what he can do, but if he is this smart he might and self taught think how far he could go in the real world, with training he could be one who knows what to look for and do security work.

| |  It sounds like he must be pretty smart, but it he could do it, I think they better look at better security. There are alot of others that could do it too, I am sure.

| |  It reminds me of the movie WAR GAMES. This kid hacked into the military computer and made it look like Russia firing missiles at us.. that was a good movie... but all that was caused by a kid.
