My grandson ripped out his sneakers tonight. I told him that we would go shopping for a new pair after we finished dinner. He was thrilled with the idea of getting a new pair of sneakers.
After dinner was over we drove to Walmart. My hubby told us that we were to go in, find the sneakers, and leave. Well, I can't get into a store and near shoes without looking at some for myself! That is the first thing I did. My grandson was growing impatient with me and grabbed my arm to lead me in the direction of shoes for him.
The first thing he spied was Cowboy boots. He tossed his nasty sneakers aside and donned the boots. I told him that they would not be comfortable shoes for him to wear and they would most likely cause him to have blisters. My husband chuckled as he watched our grandson parade around in the boots. My grandson proclaimed that the boots were very comfy and he loved them!
He put the boots back on the shelf and tried on 2 pair of sneakers. His gaze traveled back to the Cowboy boots. We finally talked him into a pair of sneakers that lit up when he walked. As we passed by the Cowboy boots, he pleaded with us to buy them for him. My hubby got him out of the shoe department and headed for the toy department. I headed for the boys clothing to check on some other much needed items.
I found the "boys" checking out the bikes. Hubby took down a great looking bike for my grandson and had him "try" it out. He followed him around the aisles and made sure that he didn't run into anyone or anything. As I continued to the shampoo aisle I could hear my grandson's voice saying how awesome the bike was and asking Opa if he was going to buy it for him.
We managed to get to the checkout without any toys or other items that we really didn't need and headed for home.
Hubby got a chuckle out of how much our grandson wanted those Cowboy boots. I told him that if they were there later this week I would pick them up for him. What young boy doesn't dream of owning a pair of Cowboy boots?

Every little boy needs a pair of cowboy boots and the hat to go with it. My hubby and I got the boys the cowboy hats, they had so much fun with them. Of course we had to be the bucking bronco horses, hehe. This brings back some nice memories. My vote goes for getting them boots for the little guy.

Hey there chickie! I am heading to Walmart tomorrow night after I get out of the chiropractor. I should have bought them tonight, but had to make a point to the grandson. He thinks that we should buy him something everytime we go to the store. We were there for sneakers and that is what he got tonight. Tomorrow is another day.2 people like this

I know that my husband wanted to buy them for him too. He also wanted to get him that bike, but I was the one holding the wallet tonight.

yes I think lots of little boys are fascinated by cowboy boots, I have no idea why because here in montreal, my son had never seen a cowboy, but there just seems to be something appealing about them for little boys,

Aww, what a cute story! My girls both have their own cowgirl boots. We have our own horses and do a lot of riding, so the boots are a necessity for them. They do enjoy wearing the boots to school though. My little one would wear hers all day long if I let her!

Aw, that is a precious story! I would have definitely melted and went ahead and bought him the cowboy boots though. My fiance dresses up in cowboy attire, and I am sure that as soon as we have children we will be trudging down the aisles and buying our own sons and daughters cowboy attire as well.

I really wanted to buy him those boots right then and there. But, we were shopping for sneakers and I had to buy the sneakers. But, tomorrow I can sneak back and buy the boots for him. He probably won't wear them long, but Iknow he will love them for the time he does.

Little kids do always seem to have their fads. They get enraptured in a toy or in this case pair of boots, but too soon they lose interest.

that is such a sweet story.
some friends we had where we used to live had a son our boy's age (1 day older) and when they first moved into the neighborhood I used to get such a chuckle out of him - he loved his cowboy boots! he wore them year round. He would wear shorts with his cowboy boots even! we lived near them for 5 years but lost contact some 11 years ago - the boy is now almost 19 and I wonder if he still loves his cowboy boots so much.
my son never cared too much about owning a pair, but my first daughter loved her little pink and white cowgirl boots that she received when she was 3... she had a sweet denim skirt and vest set that had pink accents that she liked to wear with them.

Or even a young girl. . . .
When I was growing up, Dale/Dail Evans (spelling?) and Roy Rogers were all the rage. I asked for an entire Cow Girl outfit for X-mas. I got it, too, including the hat. Take care

Cowboy boots are huge with children. I work at a preschool and at least four of my boys and two of my girls have them. When they wear them they are all proud and happy. While they don't look comfortable, never once has my preschoolers said they were or hurt their feet. They walk, run, dance, skip and play in them all day.

wyomingclassics.com has a great selection of old west clothing to go along with those cowboy boots. Check out their western shirts and vests for little wranglers as well as dad and the big brothers. Sisters can find great old west and Victorian clothing and so can mom.
