We were gathered as a class back then, when each one of us received a text message saying the Pope John Paul II has died and we should pray for his eternal repose. (It was only April 2000 and the Pope was going to die April 2004, I think) So right there, we gathered and prayed for the soul of the "supposed" late Pope. Believe me, all of us were in low spirits that time. Not until the afternoon, we started to receive another set of text messages saying that the message purportedly claiming the death of Pope John Paul was a hoax.
And it was not a funny joke at all.
