The Geico Cavemen vs. The Geico Gecko  |

 I hold strong interests in marketing and advertising and as a result I will occasionally pay more attention to commercials than the television shows that I'm actually watching.
For a while now the car insurance company Geico has had a few different "spokespersons" in their commercials, specifically the Geico Gecko and the Geico Caveman and I was just curious - which do you prefer?
I can kind understand how the 'mascots' came about (the Gecko through the company's name if mispronounced and the Caveman from a campaign slogan that stated, "so easy, a caveman can do it") but I wonder if these two were chosen to somehow target different people.
So which do you think you prefer and why do you prefer that particular 'spokesperson' in the Geico commercial?

I'm not sure many people would have really thought about that (I know thats not the point of the commercials:P) but I'm sure that it does somehow help certain people to the Cavemen on different levels. | |

2.  enchantedleppard (1341) | 7 months ago |  Hands down, the Gecko wins it. I cannot stand the Cavemen commericals and find myself switching the channel over when they come on. I watch the Gecko and think he's cute. They do a good job making him cute and witty.. making people want to watch him.

He's also pretty funny - even when he didn't talk, I remember that he was placed in funny situations (for example, in one commercial a spokesman was holding the Gecko in his hand while he talked about the product, but accidentally dropped the poor Gecko at the end of the commercial when he went to give a thumbs up sign. And in another commercial the spokesman is at a woman's house where there are a lot of cats around and there is a shot of all the cats kind of circling in on the Gecko. I found those commercials quite funny - and the Gecko didn't even need to speak for them to draw me in!) | |

3.  sunshinelady (5462) | 7 months ago |  I have to say I like the Geico Gecko. I think it is a cute way to get something across to the public. I like watching the commercial with that little lizard in it. I turn the channel if the caveman is in the commercial. I just don't care for the commercial with them in it. Another thing is they come with different ways the gecko is talking about the insurance company. When I see that commercial I always smile and will watch the whole commercial.
