Woman Sentenced in Death of Mother-To-Be  

Sometimes the US frightens me. This is one of those times. Judicial retribution is not the answer. The crime is heinous and the punishment should be life imprisonment. Execution is legaised murder and reduces the State to the same level as the crime's perpetrator. People are demonstrably not dissuaded from committing murder by the threat of execution. Matters not to me whether they are male of female. This is the ethics of the lynch mob. Her execution will not bring back this poor woman. That said, people spend so long on Death Row that we will probably go before she does. LOL

I think that if you really want to punish someone you should do it over a long period of time...I mean if you just put them in the electric chair or something like that that is going to solve it really fast but if you make them spend the rest of their lives behind bars or something like that knowing that they'll never be able to get out for any kind of reason or something like that I would think that would teach them a lesson...more so then just putting htem in the electric chair and just ending it....

I am one of the ones who cant make her mind up. Part of me says what she did was swful and she deserves to die but part of me thinks what does this teach anyways. This subject is always a hard one so im just gonna stick to being undecided.

I think there is a time for the death penalty and a time for life in prison. It all has to do with the circumstances.

Should this woman go to prison for life, yes, life should teach her a lesson but, will it? And, should she spend the rest of her life in prison, that is an expense of the tax payers. Should it really be the responsibility of tax payers to support a person, whether it be man or woman, that committed such a crime? Also, although prison is not the life of luxury, why should she be allowed to live at all when there is a child that now has to live without his mother.

Death does not accomplish anything but, in the death penalty, it accomplishes ridding this world of someone who can commit such a crime. Is it right to take a life for a life? That is a yes and no answer because again, it all depends on what the circumstances are.

I do not think that putting her to death will bring back the poor lady and her child so why not just life in prison without chance of parole that should be sufficient punishment for her.

So we should spend over $20,000.00 per year for the care and feeding of this person for the rest of their life? She killed; let her be killed. I sure wouldn't lose any sleep over it. People say the death penalty doesn't deter crime? Maybe that's 'cause it's not used enough. If there was an AUTOMATIC death sentence for certain crimes, it'd make people think. The way it is, they know they stand a chance of not being executed. That's the opinion of this myLotter.

This woman not only killed the mother she cut the unborn premature infant from her womb. I think someone like that does not deserve to live. Does this woman Lisa Montgomery want to live the rest of her life in prison - sure she does and she doesn't deserve it. That was a very violent crime and since she doesn't want to die herself then she should get the death penalty because of it. The way our judicial system is what would happen in the event of some technicality she was to be released in the future, does woman deserve to live after what she did. I don't think so. I agree with myklj999, if more people were given the death penalty for certain crimes it would make others think twice because no one wants to die.

Yeah you are correct it is real bad to hear that anyone is going to be put to death. I think there should not be death punishment instead some other type of penalty should be imposed.

well here in canada, we do not have the death penalty and I like it that way, I don't go for the old testament an eye for an eye, legal system, like you I do not see where it serves any purpose at all.

Sometimes death offers the right restitution for a heinious crime like that, how could you kid ap someone, kill her and try to own her child? If indeed she was prooved to have killed Bobbie, she too must die, it doesnt matter whether she was a man or an amaphrodite
