The NFL owners have just completed their annual meetings and have voted in several rule changes. These changes can be viewed at this site:
http://www.fdlreporter.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080403/FON02/804030694

Are these good changes in your estimation or have the NFL owners gone bananas? One in particular I believe will be abused is the force out rule. The reason we don't see any more of these "force outs" these days is because the defensive players have adjusted to the style of play the old rule mandated. Next season we will see a great number of plays in the end zone where your favorite reciever goes up for the ball close to the out of bounds line and he will be knocked out of bounds while in the air and thus no touchdown! This rule may not survive but one year.

Seems to me that all but one of the rule changes are fairly insignificant. The force out rule change is NUTS!!! The only way this would make any sense is if the end zone was as big as in Canadian Football. On red zone pass plays, the end zone is as jammed full as Manhattan sidewalks at lunchtime. This is short-sighted and stupid.

I disagree, I think that is a great rule change. I thought it was just fine before they implemented this rule, and I'm glad they changed it back. That rule really handcuffed defensive backs even more than they already were. Taking away these judgement calls from refs is a good thing, less chance for them to get it wrong.

wow that one is pretty dumb, but i think the nfl does a great job to adapt to new rules, i think this just means running backs will get more touches in the red zone with dunk passes or receivers will do more slant routes down there, you won't see any of these lob passes in the end zone which really favors the DB's when going against big WR's aka Randy Moss. This will definitely cut back scoring for sure
