 Now I my be showing my age here, but how many remember The Gumbey & Pokey show on TV. When I was about 6-8 years old, this was my favorite show. Every day at 4:00 pm, when it was cartoon hour, and yes we had TV back in those days, they would air this program at 4:30. When I was young we didn't have a 24 hour cartoon channel, heck we didn't even have cable. We had a black and white TV, with rabbit ears for an antenna, and you actually had to get up and change by hand. Anyway back to my subject, Gumbey was this odd green fellow with a point to the side of his. He kind of looked like a stick of green gum, with a split up his center for legs. He wouldn't just walk, he would glide, and he looked liked he was made from plasticine. Pokey was his companion, an orange pony with a black fringe and tail. I don't remember exactly what their whole shtick was all about, I just remember they were my fave! I even had action figures of them. They were made from rubber with wire inside so they would bend. My brothers, I have 8 of those creatures, would take my action figures hostage, demand a ransom, and tell me that if I did not pay the amount "Harm" would come to my "Friends". Of course even after meeting their demands, my "Friends" where ripped apart and left to die a death unbecoming to them. So now after all that, do you remember "Gumbey & Pokey"?
