What's your favorite old movie? Movie star? Is it Lucielle Ball? Spencer Tracy? |
|
I love old movies and the stars that were the headliners then. I am not a huge fan of the newest stuff for the most part. I have always watched the "oldies" since I was little. I really love almost all of them but some of my favorites are the two I just mentioned and also Elizebeth Taylor; Bette Davis, Rock Hudson....to name a few! Who do you like? Do you have a favorite movie? And why is it?

3. leeloo (154) | 4 months ago | The Philadelphia Story is definetely a great film the banter of the 40s with smart women who and men neither intimidated by the other. I remember seeing Great Expectations by David Lean and being blown away and what surprised me more was that it was nearly 50 years old when I saw it first. I must admit though that I like all cinema and though I agree that though there are a great deal more films available that quantity is not synonymous with quality there are sum gems that are produced to this day, they just have to mature.

hornswaggled (861) | 4 months ago | You are right...there are some that are great although I noticed that they don't always seem to be the box office hits. I know that happened back then too but they are all considered pretty good now even if they weren't considered a success back in the day. I agree with you on the Philadelphia story and Great Expectations too....I had forgotten all about that one! Thanks for reminding me and responding to my discussion.

4. Mcbuttero (844) | 4 months ago | I absolutely love James Stewart and Donna Reed in "It's a Wonderful Life." Call me corny but I can't watch that too many times. I also agree with dragon... I love "The Duke" John Wayne. I grew up watching him. My uncles and my grandparents really loved to watch.

hornswaggled (861) | 4 months ago | McB...that has to be one of the all time fav's at this house! My whole family loves it and it's sappy yes....but it's nice to have a great ending movie with a moral attached to it for a change. The new stuff seems to want to shock you with a "message" but it is so depressing sometimes. I just like a happy ending 'cuz the real life thing isn't always that way! Thanks for answering! Oh and I love "Big Jake" too. His son Patrick in the movie is soooo yummy! he! he!

| 5. 8848Nascar_Mom (51) | 4 months ago | Jimmy Stewart is, hands down, my favorite actor ever. There is just something so genuine about him that comes through in all of his characters. If I had to pick, Rear Window is undoubtedly the best movie he made. I can still remember hiding under a blanket on the couch while I watched this movie for the first time as a kid.

hornswaggled (861) | 4 months ago | That is my favorite "hitch" movie. I have probably watched it about a hundred times. I think that the part where Grace Kelly comes in with that beautiful black and white number she's wearing has to be my all time favorite part in any movie. I love the way women dressed back then. We are all in jeans(me included) and there is no romance anymore...don't you think?

7. anniepa (5119) | 3 months ago | I love the old movies and old time stars too. I loved Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, William Holden and many others. Gone With the Wind has to be my favorite of the old movies, that's still a classic. There are so many great ones it would take all night to name all my favorites and even then I'm sure I'd forget a bunch. Annie
