Do You Beleive The Moon Can Affect Our Sleeping. |
I was always told the moon can have many effects on us. One of them being our sleeping pattern. Last night we had a Full Moon and I slept for only about half an hour. This morning I feel like something "The cat dragged Home". There are not too many good sites on how the moon affects us. I did however find this. Many disorders seem to follow the phases of the moon. Epilepsy and headaches often follow this cycle. Some people don’t sleep on the night of the full moon. Scientists have proved that the phases of the moon really have an effect on the mind. Actually, the Moon has influenced life and the mind of people since the beginning of time. The cave men believed that the Moon was a God. They picture it in many cave drawings. Down through the ages and even today many cultures and religions worship the Moon. The heathen religion, for example, is very Moon Oriented. The Moon controls the ebb and flow of liquids, be it fleshly fluids or the powerful flood of the ocean tides. Many calendars and almanacs include Moon Phase Planting Guides and even Fishing Guides. Everybody knows such expression as “mood madness”, in fact, it close to the truth. The word “lunatic” is descended from the Latin word “luna” that means moon. You may not believe that the moon can cause a person to go mad, but the full moon seems to have an effect on emotional condition. It has been noticed that cell block fights, riots and general contention among inmates increase in the periods of full moon. That’s why scientists advise to keep a close watch on the prisoners, and suggest the policemen to be more alert than usual during the time of full moon. There may a few “loonies” wandering the streets. Animals are also influenced by the moon. One study repots that animals are twice as likely to bite people during the time of full moon. Take to your consideration the creatures of legends and myths. Thus werewolves need the light of the full moon to display the change, and vampires walk the night beneath the light of the moon. All these facts confirm that it should come as no surprise that, when the moon is full, some people may suffer from insomnia, nightmares, strange dreams, and some people even sleepwalk. There is one more interesting fact that some people sleep better when the moon is full, even if its shine falls into their faces. http://www.insomnia911.co... I never realised the moon could play a part in Headaches or Epilepsy. While I always heard the Full Moon can cause madness I never really beleived in it. According to this site it has been proven to cause madness. "Everybody knows such expression as “mood madness”, in fact, it close to the truth. The word “lunatic” is descended from the Latin word “luna” that means moon. You may not believe that the moon can cause a person to go mad, but the full moon seems to have an effect on emotional condition. It has been noticed that cell block fights, riots and general contention among inmates increase in the periods of full moon." Do you beleive the moon can affect our behaviour.

3. skinnychick (2920) | 4 months ago | I'm not sure it affects my behavior really. I have found that working in the restaurant business when there is a full moon, people are weirder than normal. I'm talking completely off the wall. But I'm not sure of the moon brings it out in them or this is ust normal behavior. I would agree that people would sleep better when the moon is full even when shining on their faces. If your like me, and find moonlight comforting you would know that this statement is true!

Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | Our street is really dark at night, so I love it when there is a Full Moon. But for some reason I find I cannot sleep when the moon is full. Very weird.
| |
skinnychick (2920) | 4 months ago | I wonder why. Maybe it irks you in some way deep in your psyche.
| |
Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | I don't beleive it is the brightness of the moon that stops me sleeping SC. Where we lived before there was a caryard right outside our bedroom window. Well you know how bright their lights are at night, I never had problems sleeping then.
| |
skinnychick (2920) | 4 months ago | Oh no I meant that maybe something bothers you about the full moon in the subconscious making you feel uneasy maybe emotionally. Therefore causing the lunar sleep problem. It was just a random thought.:)
| |
Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | That's a thought I never thought of it that way. But many people do have problems sleeping when there is a full moon.

4. Transdisc (12436) | 4 months ago | I was just talking about this very thing with a friend of mine today, Goodie. While I knew about all the ways a full moon affects different people and animals, I had never considered it having an impact on me or my sleeping habits. My friend asked me how I would sleep tonight with a full moon and I assured her it made no difference to me. Then, heehee, I told her how I often get up in the night and walk around in the forest during a full moon. What an idiot I've been to never make the connection that it was the damn moon that was causing me to be so restless!! I hope that you manage to get some rest, Goodie.

Transdisc (12436) | 4 months ago | I've never had accupuncture, but for some reason I imagine it as being relaxing. What's it like?
| |
dfn12968 (5595) | 4 months ago | I have visions of it being relaxing too, for some reason. I don't know why. Maybe because I envision my scalp being rubbed? Of course, in reality it's needles being poked in the scalp, which is not at all relaxing.

dfn12968 (5595) | 4 months ago | Where do you get the needles? In what parts of your body, I mean.
| |
LadyDulce (616) | 4 months ago | Acupuncturists (the good ones) will follow your body's natural energy lines, the ones connecting your chakras, to release blocked energy and improve your body's performance. If you truly hate needles, you can get much the same effect with acupressure. Blessed Be

5. rombi001 (457) | 4 months ago | wow that's a big describtion for a discussion!!:) It has happened to me as well where I couldn't sleep and it was a full moon... But I think it was just a coincidence... I usually can't sleep when I am not very tired... But it could be linked in some way
| |
| |
Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | maybe it is linked to the moon. I have sleeping problems also, but when the moon is full it is worse.
| |
rombi001 (457) | 4 months ago | you are right, I think it is worse when it is a full moon... But I can't see how I can change it... I guess I just have to make sure I am extra tired when there is going to be a full moon:)

6. pyewacket (7836) | 4 months ago | I have to admit I've been going to bed a lot later than usual, but not so much as an insomnia kind of thing but just restless..and yikes for the past two nights my cats, who are relatively quiet kitties started "tuning" up around 4 in the morning going berserk and running around...then last night my darling Pyewacket out of the blue decided to jump up into my one kitchen cabinet and knocked a lot of stuff out of it...thank goodness nothing broke...but he doesn't usually do stuff like that...I'll have to watch now when the next full moon comes around if they repeat this pattern...like I said they don't often act up, but do once in awhile...so never connected if their weird behavior was tied to a full moon But yup do think our behavior in general can be linked to the moon phases...women are supposed to be more susceptible to this I think than men

Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | I bet that scared the daylights out of you Pye. Having a normal quite kitty jump into your cabinet and knock stuff out. Well apparently it affects everyone, so I would think it would affect animals also. I know it really affected me last night. I just hope tonight is better, as I have to go out again in the morning.

8. LadyDulce (616) | 4 months ago | First off, the moon has feminine power, and yes of course it has an effect on human lives. Everything's interconnected. That's why I refuse to go out the night before, the night of, or the night after a full moon. Last night, tonight, and tomorrow I'm staying in. I also noticed, in my family at least, the best way to predict a woman's cycle is to note which phase the moon is in when it starts. Mine always begins on the night of the fullest moon. It's odd, but scarily accurate. Blessed Be

Goodie123 (6153) | 4 months ago | I have heard many people say they will not go out on these nights also. It is really amazing how something many millions of miles away can affect us. That is really interesting information about "Womans Cycle's" I never knew that.

9. Angelwhispers (4405) | 4 months ago | Goodie When I was nursing in geriatrics, there was always crises on the night before the full mooon the night of and the night after. We dreaded it, like you dread a tooth ache. I don't know if there is any real validity to it, but I sure know that the natives get mighty restless when that big light in the sky get big full and round.
