Do you still say Pluto is a planet? |
|
My daughter does..Ever since the "science" world declared Pluto not a planet, (her favorite planet btw), she will not accept it and still insists it is a planet. She had a discussion with her friend who agrees with and and both said they are going to teach their children that Pluto is a planet. Myself, it don't bother me one way or another, but I was curious how many mylotters refuse to accept science and still says Pluto is a planet.. (I know a planet has to be so big to be considered a planet, but that is beside the point, being that it had been a planet for so long, it should stay that way..my daughters thinking.. )

1. mrsfrodotata (1413) | 4 months ago | I know that pluto has officailly been declared as a moon now But I still like to call it a planet too. So I feel the same as she does. It was always a planet then boom its a moon.

3. theprogamer (7232) | 4 months ago | I know of Pluto's state but will still refer to it as a planet. Your daughter does have some claim to the truth though, as Pluto is not a moon, its a dwarf planet (so its still a "planet"). I also give Ceres (located in the Asteroid Belt) and Eris (beyond Pluto) their just dues... they too are dwarf planets though.

carmelanirel (4618) | 4 months ago | You got a site that says that? Because all we hear about is how scientists are no longer claiming Pluto as a planet..

theprogamer (7232) | 4 months ago | Dwarf Planet, not planet.;) http://solarsystem.nasa.g... http://www.sciencedaily.c... So in some technicalities it can still be called a planet... but not a full "its own 'planet'"-type planet. However, one can clearly see the distinction made in the two links though... along with other arguments. In Pluto's case its part of a anomalous area "outside" of the solar system the Kuniper Belt and one other planetoid Eris (another dwarf planet) is actually larger than Pluto. There are also moons like Saturn's Titan and Jupiter's Ganymede which have more mass (are larger) than Pluto too; they however orbit another body in a solar system instead of the sun and are hence satellites (not dwarf planets or planetary bodies so to speak).

carmelanirel (4618) | 4 months ago | I see how the second site had said because it was a dwarf planet, that we have 8 instead of 9 in our solar system..I think that is what makes her mad..She said she will always say we have 9, not 8 planets..

4. highflyingxangel (5506) | 4 months ago | To me, Pluto is still a Planet. After all, science still considers it a planet, but just a dwarf planet. Pluto has been a planet for so long, what is the point of saying it is not one? I'm going to say it's a planet until it's outlawed, lol.

5. twoey68 (5214) | 4 months ago | I've always thought that Pluto was a planet...I can't believe that after all this time that now they are saying it isn't. It's great that your daughter and her friend are planning to keep Pluto as it's always been...you can bet that I'll also keep Pluto as is. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
