Got an interview for an online job!  |

 I have been offered an interview for an online job at a website called odesk. Has anyone heard of it? I was recommended by a friend here at myLot.
Odesk is basically an online data entry site that actually do pay. They have hundreds of jobs advertised online and you can apply for them and select your payment rate and even your hours. I have stopped being active there but a prospective employer contacted me about arranging an online interview.

I have to admit though I applied for lots of jobs on there and heard nothing. I reckon the UK employer contacted me as there is a shortage of Uk applicants. So perhaps there could be some employers on there from your area. | |

4. pdsmith2002 (58)  | 6 months ago | Be very careful at odesk. It is a freelance site and may people who bid on jobs will bid at extremely low rates ($3-5 per hour) for the work. Many of these people are from 3rd world countries. I am not biased against these sites, I have just had 0 success as well as some of my peers stating the same. Sites like these have great potential, but are in no way a guarantee for continuing or ongoing employment. Make sure you are contracting with someone with a good rating and preferably someone from your own country. | |

I would never rely on income online as I have a very well paid job outside of here, I just do it for a hobby and I seem to be getting more and more addicted. It is incredible how low people do bid on the jobs, if you ever got offered these amounts offline you would most certainly not do the job.
The employer that did contact me is from my country but I think he is looking for people to do calls and to be honest I am not really fussed on that, so may pass up on it. However I may go and investigate other opportunities on this site, and I will only do a few hours work for trusted employers with positive feedback. | |

Many people say that they got paid from Odesk. A friend also told me that you need to be patient. In her case, she waited for a total of 6 months before she got her first job. Getting the first job is really hard.

I know a girl who is getting paid on a regular basis from there, and her earnings are gradually increasing. I hate the way you have to start with low paid jobs! I never spend much time there now but will update my profile and become odesk ready soon so that i can take on an opportunity. I keep getting invited for interviews but none of the jobs appeal. | |

You also have to do an odeask ready test now before you can get employed. You can bid on any number of jobs, but when starting out you should chose a low hourly rate until you get positive feedback from buyers. Also chose buyers to work for that have positive feedback and that will pay you. You can bid on a largw number of jobs such as writing, data entry, blogging, graphic designers etc | |
