| | | | | | | | 1. sizzle3000 (2574) | 2 years ago | Lets see I was born in 1964. My mom and dad loved the sixties music. I grew up with fats domino, chubby checker, ricky nelson and lets not forget Elvis. My mom loved his music. I can remember learning to do the twist and the mash potato when I was about five or six. As a matter of fact I won a few of the twist contests.
By the time I got into high school I was listening to what was termed hard rock. I loved acdc, led zeplin, ozzy ozborn, black sabath and the greatful dead. I also loved alice cooper and kiss. I could not get over not just their music by their costumes as well.
By the time I reached my early twenties I had mellowed out a lot. I was not listening to country music. The old stuff that actually had meaning. I liked patsy cline, reba macintire, dolly parten, hank williams jr., merle hagard, and johnny cash. They put out songs that you could relate to.
I am not in my forties and I still ove to listen to the old rock and roll. Chubby Checker brings back memories. However, I still am a country girl and I will always be. I did try to listen to some of that rap music but is has no soul. Rap just sounds like a bunch of yelling to me. You can not understand any of the words. And when you get lucky to make a work or two it is alway curse words. I have also listened to some of the modern rock and even that doesn't make sense any more. I guess I am getting old.
I am sticking to country music from here on out.

| | 3. vera5d (2204) | 2 years ago | When I was in 4th or 5th grade I was all about the latest pop music...I remember thinking Paula Abdul was the greatest!! My cousin fortunately soon introduced me to the Beastie Boys and my life was never the same.
In middle school and high school it was all about grunge & alternative music - nirvana, greenday, alice in chains, nine inch nails. By the time I hit college I liked "hippie music"...
When I was very young, my parents were wedding singers and used to serenade me with 70's soft rock songs from Bread and the Carpenters...
Now I listen to whatever and like way too much music to even know where to begin...

| | | 6. ajhienomoto (95) | 2 years ago | I was born in the 90's but since I was little I've always had this attraction to music from the pre90's era--60's, 70's, 80's. Haha. It's not that I don't like listening to contemporary music and all that. I just find those oldies much better to listen to, I guess. Retro, Motown, Classic Rock--I love 'em all! And I don't only listen, I actually enjoy singing songs from these eras! For some unexplainable reason, they just never fail to get me rushing! Haha. xoxo, ajhie!

| | 8. huppsterdave5125 (226) | 2 years ago | My parents alweays listened to country music so I have grown up around it. I used to listen to all kinds of country music, including my favorite song Achey Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. I used to have a guitar made out of a couple sticks and a piece of cardboard. I would sing and dance all around house. I new every single word to that classic country song. Anyway, My parents would mostly listen to the really old country like the Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash and the Charlie Pride. Now I still love country music, but I am in to the much newer stuff. I like Brad Paisley, Big & Rich, Montgomery Gentry, Rodney Atkins, and many other newer country artists. Don't get me wrong you can never replace Achey Breaky Heart, but I think I will stick to the newer country now.
