Am I the only person who really likes these types movies? I have seen tons of them and some really stink, some are great, but all have made my mind go into high gear. There are so many of them and they vary so much, from Mad Max to I am Legand(which is a remake of The Last Man On Earth w/Vincent Price, and Omega Manw/Charleton Heston)What is it about these movies that are so intriguing?

I remember Red Dawn, 28 Days Later, The Day After Tomorrow, Postman, Waterworld, Armegeddon, On The Beach(that's an old one), Deep Impact, etc. etc.

Each one can make you think about what you would do, how you would handle things-or not, what changes you would have to make.

Do you like these movies? If so what were some of your favorites so that I can make up my Netflix list for next fall!;)

I love disaster movies also and am not sure why, they are very scary when you can equate them to being real.. The last one that I did watch was "I am Legend" and I enjoyed it thoroughly.. I have also watched some of the ones that you mentioned and especially loved "Omega Man" and The Day After Tomorrow.. I have also watched and enjoyed, Dante's Peak, Twister, Night of the Twisters, Storm Chasers and so many others..

We have so many to choose from, epidemics, volcanoes, earthquakes, tornados, avalanches, floods, tidal waves, fires, and not too forget the man-made disasters.. There has got to be 1000's of this type of movies and I bet the old ones are as good as the new ones.. Hope I helped your list, enjoy your next movie..

My husband likes them too and he liked Dante's Peak, and Twister. I will have to look into Storm Chasers, that should be interesting. I forgot about the epidemic movies.

Hmm, there are a lot of them. I really liked "The Day After Tomorrow" -- but "Mad Max left me cold.

Stephen King's "The Mist," I found to be enjoyable as well as "I Am Legend." Also Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" (both versions were well done).

Mostly those that leave me cold are those that have a backdrop of a nearly destroyed civilization with little change in scenery.

Also leaving me cold are films that are so dark, or filmed in the dark, that the viewer really can't see what's going on.

I particularly dislike films that are made using VCR technology, and more and more would-be movie producers (individuals) are employing that method, tossing them into the "B" movie category.

Don't bother putting "Wickerman" (Nicolas Cage) on your must-see list. He has a way of choosing really bad film roles for the most part, except for "National Treasure" (not of this particular venue), which was quite good.

"Warbirds," a current release, was pretty good, and you might also like "They Wait."
