Expensive to play soccer..>.<  email this discussion to a friend?

I just received a paper from my son to play soccer..They want 55.00 and we need to provide the ball, shin guards, shoes and shorts, so we are paying 55.00 for a shirt???

Unless they changed, the coach doesn't get any money and why would it cost so much to sign up when all they provide is a shirt???

How much does it cost where you are to sign up? What all does that include?? Once again my son may not be playing, this is way too over priced for our budget..sad

For the past three years, baseball has gone up $10 each year. this year it is $45 dollars per child. I have two that play. All they get is the shirt. It is aggravating, If it wasn't for my kids love for baseball, I wouldn't have put them in this year. I wonder if its going to go up again next year.

I believe the fees go toward upkeep of the fields they play on and practice on. I know when I played soccer we used the school soccer fields but we were not on a school affliated soccer team. It's possible the school charged for the use of the field to compensate for the upkeep, who knows.

Also, someone is getting paid for organizing the league, it may not be the coaches but there are administration staff who do work to.

Oh yeah, that could be it, but 55.00 a person, wow..Plus I forgot, they also pay the referee's because I tried getting my oldest son to do that so he could earn extra money, but he didn't go through with it..

I think you will find that this is the fee for insurance, to cover, hospital, and other medical needs, and in some cases wages for the player.

It could be call registration annual fee.

All players must be registered and payed up to play.

This is standard right across all codes of Football.

But if you ask at your club they will tell where that fee goes and how it is used.

I think at the end you will think it good money spent well for what you receive.

lol Well I know 100% it is not for the player, if so we would have made a lot of money when I had three playing at once..I also don't think it is for insurance, because I remember they would pass out papers for you to sign up for their insurance, but we always had my husbands insurance that was good, so we never used it..

I did Rugby League for JR's

The fee was for all their medical needs if needed.

Fees for gear/ground hire came from the seniors or donated by ARL

Ref's gave their time free.

Stripes/Jumpers and socks were also given to the JR players free of charge and were theirs to keep.

The fee about 3 years ago was $35 for JR's for the season, not set by us but by ARL.

So our Kids did well I thought, plus they always got something to eat and a energy drink at the end of game Free.

The refs here get paid and there is no insurance unless we parent pay out of pocket and as for drink and treats, parents take turns bringing those at each game, so that isn't really free either..

I know just how you feel. I have 4 kids and no money. They are constantly bringing home flyers for baseball, football, cheerleading, gymnastics and so on and so on. I can't afford to let even one kid join and if one joins I'll have to let all 4 join. And the little girl next door has activities that overlap. She took cheer class and before that was over her t-ball started. And she's only 4. I keep telling my kids to do good in school, go to college get a relly good job and maybe then you won't constantly dissappoint your own kids.

With four kids that would be very expensive..When we had three in soccer one year, we almost had to take out a loan to pay for it..I think that if someone can't pay for extra activities, they should give discounts or something..
