stimulus money |

| I know that everyone is checking the mail these days for their checks but, where did the money come from? And why did the congress choose to do this, won't we just be digging another hole? | | | | | |

| | The money is coming from Tax Revenue and yes, we're digging another hole, but since they're giving them to everyone you may as well put yours to good use. I am using mine to pay off bills. They want us to spend it on things, but that won't happen for me. I've got bills to pay so I can save up for a house! | | | | | | |

| | Thats the down side~I'm paying off bills also and that seems to be the general response. So then what next? | | | |

| | I guess just keep paying our bills and buy nothing new until we get things paid off and hopefully we can ride out the storm. | | | |

| | Actually I heard ( do not know if it is true) that we borrowed the money for the stimulus checks from China. They have a vested interst in keeping us spending to help their ecomony (gotta love Walmart for all the great products from china) so therefore they gave the money to bush to do it. It kinda makes sense. We are one of the top consumers in teh world. What happens if we stop spending money? We hurt countries that depend on us buying thier goods for their ecomony. China needs us to keep buying their products or either ecomony will suffer, so they lend us the money to spend it. Of course I am sure they are getting a good rate of interest on that money too. | | | | | | |

| | I heard that also and that is the reason for this question: Where is the money from? That would be a shame if it were true. How do I find that out for sure? It's an issue with me. | | | |

| | Inflation and Debt *makes a face* like that helps anything. I agree with the first poster that we might as well do something with it -- and for many, including my own family I know that it'll save many people..either from losing their house, going bankrupt, or going into debt. But in the long run..I don't think for a minute that this money will help the economy. | | | |

| | Without a doubt the money is coming from Chinaa and what I can't stand is George Bush's comments that he's got it all figured out while China leaches off us but all you have to do is check products wherever you go and you see Made In China on 75% of the products and I was looking at tags at a GAP in the mall and I saw Phillipines, India (which is closing up on us), China and it made me want to cringe--for one, that people are spending 34.50 for a summer shirt whichs less than an ounce but now you can go to Walmart and find some items that are almost identical. I go to Walmart because Im dirt poor and needed clothes for five years and thats where my tax check went and I like that they have clothes (and bags) that preach eco-friendly things but at what cost to our economy, I might actually consider a 30 dollar organic cotton earth friendly designed t shirt online now. | | | | | | |

| | I feel ya~ Wal-Mart is definetly a monolopy. I live in a very small town and that store is our only means of anything around here. But, let's make an effort not to buy the clothes from China. I know that we all have to do what we have to in order to get buy, but change is hard, but worth the effort. I will look for clothing made in the U.S.A. next time I am at Wal-Mart. Also if we don't start re-usuing, we will bury ourselves in crap! Join a free-cycle group in your area, lot's of good things to re use and not put in the dumps. Let's not consume so much anymore. I am focusing on the things and blessings that I do have, and not fretting about what I don't have. Sometimes just changing the mindset helps. | | | |

| | What I heard yesterday is that the government has borrowed the money, adding to our national debt. It is very much like someone taking out a bank loan to pay off their credit card debt. It doesn't make much sense to me. Doesn't the nation have enough debt? Eight years ago we didn't have any debt! I think it is another foolish decision from Washington. | | | | | | |
